  1. Congrats to everyone accepted! Nothing for me as of now:(
  2. Hi Kevin, congrats on your acceptance. What's your first choice? UTA or TWU?
  3. Oh good to know! I thought 790 for just Dallas. I've been super nervous, especially after reading old posts and ppls stats that were denied. This application period will be the first to just weigh previous degrees and TWU credits as preferences.
  4. Hi guys! Deadline is tomorrow! I stressed about the TEAS V more than I should have. If you did well in your prereqs, you should be fine; though I did study the ATI guide intensely for two weeks and took the online practice tests. Some of the science wasn't in the ATI guide and I had to rely on my previously learned material. The hardest part was the math section because timing was an issue for me. I made a 92.3 overall and submitted my application Friday the 29th. I'm applying with a 3.827 GPA, 92.3 TEAS V, no TWU bump, no previous degree and core complete. Acceptance letters are normally emailed beginning the last week of October and denial letters are sent via mail according to my advisor. Hopefully these two months pass quickly, I'm glad I have patho to keep me occupied! Good luck to everyone applying!
  5. Hi there! I believe the TWU bump is still in effect. The only thing changed was the first attempt rule as far as preferences. I could be wrong, but it states it's a preference on the TWU nursing website. One more month left guys!!
  6. Hi Rimmynim, maybe this will put you at ease: I met with my TWU nursing advisor Friday and she told me the average GPA for Fall 2014 class was 3.84 and TEAS average was 84% for those accepted. If my calculations are right lol, the lowest GPA accepted was around a 3.3 with the highest 4.4 (TWU bump) Obviously every applicant pool is different, but it's a good indicator of the competition out there. One of my questions for her is how close to the deadline can I take the TEAS. She informed me as late at 8/31! I'm not pushing it that close, but good to know the time frame. As far as filling out the application, I have't started it yet, but I don't think they look at extra activities or volunteer hours.
  7. Hi guys! Hope all is well! I can't believe in less than two months the deadline to apply will be here! Since I'm almost finished with my prerequisites(micro right now), I'm taking a trip this week up to Denton to meet with my advisor to ensure everything is in order for me to apply. Only thing left is the TEAS! I was wondering about immunizations also. I've received all of the routine childhood vaccines, but I was wondering if I am up to their standards. On the website it says something about varicella; maybe I just need a titer done. I guess I will find out when I meet with her. Feel free to post your progress yall!:)
  8. Hi there! This is straight from the TWU nursing entrance exam webpage to clear any confusion: "Since the TEAS V minimum score requirement has recently changed, for the Spring 2015 application period (September 1, 2014 deadline), ONLY we will allow students to take the exam more than once, and we will use the most recent attempt. THIS IS ONLY FOR THE SPRING 2015 ADMISSION CYCLE."
  9. Spring semester is officially over! Yay! Classes done: Chem, PE, nutrition, lifespan growth & development and federal government. I walked away with all A's!! I rearranged my schedule so I have A&P 1(retaking bc it's 6 years old) starting tomorrow and ending around 6/30 and Micro summer 2. If I can get through those, it's smooth sailing...better yet the calm before the storm! If you are wanting detailz on the whole nursing school process from a students point of view, take a look at Amber's blog, "This Nursing Journey." You'll have to go through the archives and it seems pretty backwards the way its set up, but I read the entire thing the other day! Very informative you guys, worth a google!
  10. Right! 32 or more hours at TWU, you will receive the TWU GPA bump. I'll be taking my first TWU class this fall, Patho eek!
  11. Hi there! I am wondering how long does it take for TWU to receive your TEAS scores. Only bc Aug 27th seems so close to the Sept 1 deadline, but if they send it automatically, by all means go for it! I am taking mine at the end of July, but if I wanted to retake due to my score, I was wondering if there would be enough time. Good luck and keep us posted!
  12. I haven't heard about that professor, but I am at the northeast campus. Study groups are a must for micro so find a good one! Good luck!!
  13. Hey Jennifer! If you need some professor recommendations for TCC, just let me know! There's private messaging on here right? I had an AWESOME professor for chemistry and nutrition! I'm not sure if they are available for summers, but I doesn't hurt to check. Taking Mirco this summer online with lab at the campus. I'm super nervous about Micro only because I've heard mixed reviews. I guess it all depends on who is teaching. Yes, keep us posted!
  14. Got it! Thanks for the info. Sheesh for some reason I stopped getting notifications when someone posts!
  15. You'll get there! I retook my federal government class just to increase my GPA and it was so easy the second time around, idk how I got a C the first time. Honestly, online classes are the way to go at least for me, everything is there for you and you don't have to fight traffic everyday:) I hope I can get into Patho online this fall bc the commute will kill me! But we gotta do what we gotta do! Good luck to you!
