TV's ER new NM, Eve

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I've missed the past couple of episodes this season (you know, clinical and studying and all). Anyway, I'm tickled so far to meet the new nurse manager on the show, Eve. Maybe the producers are finally hearing what real nurses thought of the representation on the show. She seems promising.

On the other hand, I can't believe this show has been on for 9 or so years and they STILL *all* wear every single stethoscope backwards! :smackingf

ALL I know, is I could never stomach that RN Sam, and I dont care about her kid either! LOL! And Im a peds RN!! Too funny!!.............Nice to see another RN focus on the show!!

I love ER but..... the new nurse mgr reminds me a little too much of my clinical instructor!

I fell asleep, but taped it. The parts that I did see, I thought she came off abit rough. The Sam/ Kovach thing bothers me, I'm sure the new nurse mangager will let them know how inappropriate they have been:rotfl:

Seriously, don't you just wish the producer's of ER would follow any one of us around for a 12 hour shift.......I can guarantee their storylines would get much better!

Personally I loved her. Yes she was tough when she said I have a phd. However he was being an orifice and needed put in his place about her knowledge and skills. Though it was unfortunate that Sam was bumped against her will the NM was correct in that the thing between Sam and Kovach was interfering with pt care way to advocate for the pt. I do think it sucks that the nurse Sam has to be the one to be jacked around but as the NM said she has no control over the MD schedules and must do what is best for the pts. I think she so far is an excellent role model of nursing. I think it seems that her character will be tough but fair always putting pt care first as it should be. I am impressed.

I do kind of like her because she came in and saw a mess of an ER - not up to date on procedures, too much staff drama, etc. The thing I didn't agree with was how she bawled Kovac out right in front of that kid's mother. You NEVER contradict another staff member like that in front of the family. Small things, maybe, but not things like a life-saving procedure, and how the resident screwed up. It was probably all for the drama, though, but still, it was totally inappropriate.

I too am sick of Sam and her moody brattiness. Kovac is also a pain. I am glad to see an RN with a strong personna finally on board. She is a bit too aggressive but I see it as a bulldog rather than a know it all. She has to teach her nurses and docs things in a less public way(like LR verses NS in the middle of a trauma was NOT the right time). I am finally getting interst back in ER after being disappointed for many seassns. Stop with the nonsense(docs and nurses and focus on a reality type show)

ohhh I didn't see it yet, I was just guessing that she would do something about the Sam/ Kovach thing. Any one would have long time ago.

Wondering what the John Leguizimo (spelling?) character will be doing?

I like her A LOT. She isn't perfect by any means but she is a strong character and a nurse at that. Imagine that. :) I really liked how she quizzed Sam about what she was doing with the IV solutions. I hope the rest of the public caught that being a nurse requires critical thinking skills, too, and that being smart isn't just required of the doctors. I loved the way Eve put the snotty doctor in his place, too. I don't care that she told Dr. Kovac that she has a PH.D. He was wrong, wrong, wrong for allowing his personal feelings about Sam to put a patient's life on the line. If he needs a reminder that nurses are more than just order followers then fine with me. You go girl! :chuckle I think this show was an introduction to the idea that there is more to nursing than applying a band aid or wiping someone's behind. :) I hope to see more from her AND the nurses that have been there. And oh yeah, I can't stand Sam!

I think her character is a good addition. Now that Carrie is not in the picture so much they need a new whip cracking b**** on the set. Since Carole left and Abby became a doc there is not strong nursing presence beside good old Hela and Malik. But seriously.....an LMA on a kid with a closed head injury choking on his own blood? A trach isn't indicated on kids under 12? What???? The kid was as big as 13 year old anyway! And Pratt could have handled something like that any other time. Why are they turning him into a nervous Nellie second guessing himself?

Side note...I think Sam should marry Luca and go per diem when his insurance kicks in. :chuckle But if there wasn't turmoil in Luca's life there wouldn't be much of a need for his character.

You know Luca looks so good when he is brooding!! I felt the same way about the LMA and the trach comment. Oh well, it is just a show!!

Oh but he is soooo cute! He doesn't need a storyline. :p

I miss Carol Hathaway. I remember the very first ER episode. Hadn't she tried to commit suicide? hmmm
