Nursing Students ADN/BSN

$84.000 for BSN program, is it to expensive Or fair? I was looking to get in at chamberlain school of nursing. Sounds like a lots of money! I will be happy to hear any advise n will help me to figure this out. P.s No waiting list, I'm 40yr old.

I am in RN- to-BSN program at a local community college. I pay around $1,150 each semester in tuition. The program is 4 semesters if you keep the pace they recommend.

I started looking into it and our cost in MI looks around 20-25k

I'd look at getting into a public school. $84,000 is a lot, especially at 40 years old.

Yes. I got into a 80k program just 2 wks ago and for me and my family decided it was stupid to pay that much for a job that only pays 21-24/hr. Plus to incur that debt at 37 yrs old would be unthinkable for me and my family lol. Yes, my hubby would have done it and yes I had financing in order to go.... But in the end... I chose not to.

I think $84,000 is tremendously expensive tuition based on the numbers. If you finance $84,000 over 10 years at 6.8 percent interest, you'll have a monthly payment of $967 for the next 360 months.

You'll be paying $1,000 per month for the next 10 years, and perhaps more. I doubt you'll be able to cover the entire tuition amount with federal student loans, which means you'll likely be turning to expensive private loan products.

You'll be paying more than $32,000 in interest and fees on this loan, bring your total repayment to $116,001 for 10 years. This is definitely not worth it to me.

If you have good GPA on your pre req, you would have wait for enrolling local community college or so! However, if u are really become a nurse and not have good GPA on pre req, maybe private school that doesn't care much GPA best option for you. 84k is a lot !! Go find Adn program local and finish and get RN licence. After that I can go BSN online while working. Good luck

My LPN+ASN was less than $12,000 and I left school debt free.

My RN to BSN is going to be approximately $8,000 - $12,000 dollars; which is how much I make as an RN in just 2-3 months. However, this path is significantly much more time consuming.

I firmly believe 4 year education costs are significantly over inflated and believe the debt incurred by them is not justified. But sometimes time will play a very important factor in one's life and career

Thank you so much for the break down on numbers! Def not going to put myself in that situation after all...

Of course it is your decision to make, but I am very pleased to hear that you are deciding against it. There are definitely other options that will be much more cost effective. I just can't see the worth in a degree that you will still be paying for when you reach retirement age, or even beyond.

My community college ADN was around $25,000, though that was largely because I had to be unemployed or PRN to succeed, so I had loans to offset everything. Finishing my BSN now to the tune of another $15,000. Overall, the entire experience will be about $40,000 when I'm done.

If you're paying more than that, I would say that's pretty outrageous. $40,000 for a four year education was hard for me to swallow, especially since my daughter's dad finished his Master's in wildlife biology with about the same debt.

That is absurd!! I am paying around 700.00 for every 3 credit course which isn't bad at all. I am working OT to pay for it...
