Trump’s assault on Postal Service and voting is a plot against American democracy | Editorial

Quote

On Thursday morning, after months of attacks on the United States Postal Service and vote-by-mail, President Donald Trump admitted that the two efforts are connected as a part of one voter disenfranchisement effort. In a Fox Business Network interview, Trump said that the sticking point for him in the negotiations over a new coronavirus economic relief package is Post Office funding: “If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.”

We have never had a president face the amount of adversity that President Trump has while in office.

Adversity that he caused others - through poor decision making, total lack of critical thinking, bullying, nepotism, and downright meanness and narcissism. As a healthcare provider I cannot ever get over the needless suffering he caused the American elderly, middle aged, teens and children experiencing Covid19 and its sequela through Trump's willful ignorance and mismanagement of a deadly virus. And that is what history will remember about him.

Are you really comparing Trump to a man who killed 6 million Jewish people? What the hell is wrong with you? Trump being a little brash with women does not equate to genocide. I am curious if you used similar comparisons to Obama when he was in office celebrating the lives of genocidal terrorists and helping countries murder their elected leaders. You really need to educate yourself and stop making light of the holocaust.

No one is making light of the Holocaust.

More propaganda. Even Trump's own commission could not unearth evidence of widespread fraud and was disbanded when it could not validate Trump's claims.

Evidence of voter suppression is readily available for those who would see, it's one of our oldest constitutional challenges. We can't forget all of the ways that voters have been and continue to be disenfranchised in this country.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/series/us-voter-supression

It's also dangerous to believe ACTUAL conspiracy theorists, like morbidly obese Donald J Trump, because Trump has been elevated to a very high and powerful bully pulpit by partisan voters.

As for facing adversity, Trump is a whiner, claiming victimhood and you are repeating it without considering what other presidents endured. It's almost embarrassing.

The year is 2020 and voting is easily performed. "Disenfranchised" populations are a thing of the past unless you are considering the top income earners in America who pay an unfair amount of taxes. Continuing to support the myth of "disenfranchisement" is not only oppressive to those who you consider to be "disenfranchised" but also Anti-American. Voter fraud exists and continues to occur. Why do you think people are fighting against voter ID laws?

As for facing adversity what do you call those insane Russian conspiracy theories which have been thoroughly debunked or the whole impeachment fiasco? Trump has been a victim of racism, classism, and sexism ever since he got into office and has endured that his entire life. The man who has historically been a champion of women and minorities in the workplace suddenly became a "racist" and "sexist" overnight and its just plain insane.

Calling Trump "hitler-lite" is making light of the holocaust and borderline Anti-Semetic. We have real threats to America being supported like Bernie Sanders who align themselves with ideologies which are rooted in oppression and genocide yet Trump being vulgar talking about a woman makes him as bad as one of the most evil men in history. Clown world

Blaming one man for America's insane over response to the virus. As a fellow healthcare provider and American I am terrified of the economic impact we will suffer in the future from these shutdowns. Maybe you should lay a little blame towards Mayors in cities like NYC and Chicago who were encouraging terror groups to riot and protest in the streets during a pandemic rather than a man who selflessly tried to rescue the nation after 16 years of incompetent presidents.

Are we talking about the same man? The only woman I haven't heard him call "nasty" is Ghislaine Maxwell.

More propaganda and victimhood.

If only there was evidence of Trump's "champion" efforts, rather than sycophant horn blowing and marketing. Instead there is ample evidence that Trump holds deeply ingrained attitudes of racism and misogyny.

Gosh, that nonsense about Russian conspiracy being debunked is tired and worn out. We all know that Trump's team met with or spoke with Russians more than 100 times before the 2016 election...and lied about each encounter. Just because you believe it's debunked doesn't mean that it is debunked.

Trump has historically been a pioneer in promoting women to high ranking positions in his company and this includes minority women. The man is definitely brash, vulgar, and can't keep it in his pants however it doesn't change the fact that he has been a feminist his entire career.

Prior to the mass propaganda that occurred after he started running for president the man was praised for his feminism and promotion of minorities but the brainwashing news networks have done their best to bury the great things he has done through his entire life.

I'm concerned that you are not appreciating the national public health failure that starts at the office of the Chief Executive.

Add whatever you like, so far your thoughts and opinions don't seem influenced or based upon facts or evidence. Making incorrect statements about me would simply be consistent with your other unsupported opinions.

I grew up in Chicago and remember asking my mother what "looting" was when I was a child watching the TV news. Unfortunately violence is nothing new in Chicago. These current mayors did not cause it but continuously try to prevent or stop it. It is so sad. The Chicago Tribune on New Years Day publishes the pictures and stories of all who die as a result of gang violence the previous year. What a horrible outcome for young people. I do not have a solution, do you?

But I couldn't see much of the recent trouble through the tear gas Trump ordered for peaceful protesters. A sorry thing when a President attacks his own people --- may be those who voted for him?

Peaceful protestors? If Trump needs to be criticized for anything its his horrendous under-response to these rioters. What is going on in Portland every night is inexcusable and for a president not to react to it just blows my mind. These "peaceful" protestors are burnin down police buildings and blocking traffic on the road. To have Mayors encourage lockdowns while also encourage these hate groups to run rampant in the street is an example of the pathetic state of the nation today.
