On Thursday morning, after months of attacks on the United States Postal Service and vote-by-mail, President Donald Trump admitted that the two efforts are connected as a part of one voter disenfranchisement effort. In a Fox Business Network interview, Trump said that the sticking point for him in the negotiations over a new coronavirus economic relief package is Post Office funding: “If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.”
The Postal Service's current woes are also due at least in part to Capitol Hill's meddling. In 2006, Congress passed a new law requiring the agency to pay about $5.5 billion a year into a trust fund for future retiree health benefits. When revenues were rising, the idea might have seemed reasonable. But the timing was exquisitely bad. Now that the agency is in the red, the pension burden has helped to force drastic measures like the ones we've heard about today.
The postal service was gutted in 2006 when congress required the to prefund retirement for employees who hadn't been hired yet. This is truly a bipartisan effort. FedEx and UPS lobby heavily to ensure the USPS dies. The USPS is completely funded by stamp revenue. If they didn't have to spend 5+ billion a year on pension benefits for employees who haven't even interviewed.
Voter Suppression = legitimate voters votes not being counted. And illegitimate votes being counted. That is what voting by mail is all about. Apparently you can riot in the streets and go Walmart and not catch corona. But if you go to the voting polls, church, or a bar you will die. Voting by mail = Voter Suppression!

That's some twisted logic right there. But, it takes some serious twist to defend forcing people into polling places during the worst public health emergency in 100 years. That's Trump's America...illogical and dangerous.

What is "illogical and dangerous" is to think that it is o.k. for protesters to pack into public places and protest, and shoppers can pack into Walmart to shop -but somehow going to the polls to vote is dangerous. That is indeed illogical from a scientific standpoint, and it is dangerous to democracy. Also kindly explain how a man who has been in politics for 50 years including 8 years as VP is going to all of the sudden fix things -what has he been doing for the past 50 years? That is indeed leftist America -embracing failed career politicians and the failed ideology of the past (socialism). It is twisted to think that churches and polling places are anymore dangerous than gathering in mass protests or the millions of people who shop at Walmart everyday.

It's illogical to put strangers in your private vehicle during a poorly managed pandemic that is spread by close contact and shared air.
Biden will immediately make the country more secure simply by replacing Trump and the corrupt Trump cabinet. Yes, I would agree that the thinking about mitigation is pretty twisted among Trump apologists. The evidence to support that is remarkable...the reactions to masking requirements are emotional and violent sometimes. It's almost as if this is purely an emotional exercise for them...with no critical thought.

Sure...in your fantasy land apparently. This type of commenting qualifies for the echo chamber...it has no substance and deserves no further engagement.
If you can go to Costco, Walmart any grocery store, protest and riot in the streets with NO mask at all then all of you can also vote in person.
But not everybody is going out. And what’s your actual fact based issue with mail-in voting, given that 5 states (co, wa, hi, or & ut) already use mail only voting without problems?

You are aware the debates are already scheduled, right? I’m looking forward to them as well. Be interesting to see how trump handles being on the defensive without melting down. Especially if you recall how biden handled robert bork.
