Tri-C in Cleveland

Published

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

MelMelH,Can you please tell me where you found the orientation date? I am starting the accelerated program in Fall and have not received an email yet in my tri-c email box. Did you get an email or find it somewhere else? I also am getting married soon. :)

I just called them and explained my wedding and honeymoon situation and they told me. I wanted to make sure I didn't book my honeymoon during the orientation date so they understood and told me. I think the date is different for the accelerated program. The generic orientation date is May 26th.

qcobra,

Oh by the way, congrats on your getting married. And no, they haven't sent the emails out yet. They said to look for the email in April.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site so I apologize if this has already been asked earlier. I read through the posts and just want to clarify a few things. I'm currently taking my last pre-req and hoping to apply to the nursing program as soon as the summer semester is over. Am I able to get my background check out of the way now or do I need to wait until Tri-C tells me to do so? Also, can I schedule A2 test now or do I need to wait for that also? One last question, what immunizations do I need and by when? Thanks so much!

Vaccinations are

Hep B- 3 injection series

MMR

Polio

Varicella

Tetorifice

and a 2 step TB test needs to be within the last year.

There really isn't any sense in getting any of this done before you get into the program and get the orientation email. They tell you when you need to have things done.

As far as the HESI and Background check go, no you can't really get any of that done beforehand since the nursing department won't know who you are and the HESI results won't have anywhere to upload to.

Scott,

Is the HESI easy or should I study for it? I have just gone through Algebra 1,2 and Intermediate so I think I am good on Math, I'm in Chem 1020 right now so I know all the conversion problems.

Thanks for your help!

I thought the Hesi A2 was very easy. I had to brush up on math as my last math class was Calc II my freshman year of college (2005) so I forgot how to do BASIC math! Also know roman numerals, military time, and household conversions (e.g. quarters to gallons).

I would buy/borrow the official Hesi A2 study guide and spend maybe 4-6 hours or so on it in the areas you are weak and you should be good. I didn't study any more than that and I got over a 90% on the test. My weak areas were the sciences as I hadn't taken physiology, anatomy had been a few years ago, and chem/bio were 5 years ago!

HESI is stupid easy. They give you a calculator for the math for Pete's sake, and unless things have changed they only count the Math portion and the 3 "English" sections. Reading Comprehension, Grammar, and whatever the other one is.

Hi,

I just completed the A2 exam(Yes, sooo easy. I finished it in 2 hours!) and the background check, so all I'm waiting on, I guess, is for Tri-C to send me the program admission papers. Can anyone tell me what the form consists of? What sort of info does it require?

This process has gone soooo much faster than I originally anticipated. I registered for classes last fall, completed my pre-reqs this past Spring semester, and here I am now awaiting official entry into the program. *whew!* Exciting!

Thanks to everyone for their help. This forum has been very informative!!

You basically fill out your name address S number and choose which program you want to start in. Days Evenings, and which campus. There was another form that you had to sign that said you understand the rules for obtaining licensure after graduation. There was another form too, but it's been a while since I did any of this.
