You should be aware of a pts vascular status before a sharp debridement. If your facility doesn't do ABI's, you should send them out for arterial studies. If that isn't a option and you aren't able to send the pt to a wound clinic, I would suggest using Santyl on the wound.

It sounds to me like you are doing everything right. What type of skin prep are you using? Any wrinkles? I think the Cavalon prep works best. After you apply you can again go over the edges with the skin prep and over any wrinkles. So before and after application. I got this tip from a kci rep. Those reps have lots of good tips so I would call your rep for advise as well.

It takes quite a while to get through all the prereqs but you can do it. If you plan on going on for your BSN, take Chem 1010 and 1020. Also, if you're slow at math, don't take the on-line Algebra class, the tests are timed. I started as an LPN as well and I just graduated this past May. Goodluck!!!

If that's how you learn best, then that would be helpful. I wrote down key points that seemed important on several sheets of paper and I took these with me wherever I went to drill them into my head. Repetition works best for me and that goes for all the core info and lab values...read it everyday so it is a permanent fixture in your brain.

I took the test this morning and I'm wondering how long it will take to be posted on BON?

I am a recent graduate and I just wish this situation would get resolved. In my opinion, Tri-C should be assisting the current BSN instructors in getting their Masters degree. Most of the lab and clinical instructors are part-time and many that I've talked to are working on their masters on their own. They have known about this since 2010 and if they could show that they are making an effort to hire MSN nurses and assist their current BSN instructors on advancing to MSN the conditions would have been dropped. As someone already stated, this program is huge and as they were expanding they should have taken this seriously. 3 years is a long time, I am not panicking, I am PO'd!! They need to figure this out quickly.

Do you know what the percentage was? I got an 89% and just like you I couldn't study because it was the week before finals.

Has anyone here taken the practice HESI exam? I scored an 89% on that test and of course that was the week before finals so I did not study. I heard it is harder than the NCLEX, is this true? I just ordered the PDA, and the NCSBN and I have been studying from nclex review books. Hope these are helpful.

I agree, I get alot of my books from Ohio Link and I just keep renewing. I also bought books from other students and if you are getting older editions you don't need to spend too much. I didn't have much money so I went the cheapest route possible and even with older editions I managed A's and B's in all of my classes. The book list from the bookstore website is outrageous and you really need to wait for your syllabus to be posted so you are positive what books are required. It seems the bookstore and the nursing dept do NOT work together and people have wasted lots of mula!

Community colleges are around $90 a credit hour so give this some thought when looking for a nursing program. When some of these schools cost more than universities then you have to wonder whats going on. Also make sure your classes can transfer if you plan on getting a BSN, most don't. Like Delilas said, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!

I am an LPN so I can tell you that you're right, you need to get the RN!! Its a tough road but it will pay off in the long run, believe me. I am in the lpn to rn program currently at tri-c and my opinion is to keep plugging away like you are doing now. If you have kids & work, tri-c is great considering how many on-line classes there is and even when you get into the program they have an evening weekend option for people like you. You can't even apply until the prereqs are done so I'm doubting that you can get in 2013 because your math is putting you behind, you need 1200 math or equivillant. It will go by quickly....you can do it

Do you have to work too? If you don't have to work you'll be fine. I have a part-time job and I'm managing just fine. If you do have to work, you will have a hard time managing work, school and baby.

My son starts this fall also, he just called today and they said they are sending an email out this week regarding orientation which will be mid May. Check your tri c email frequently for info.
