  1. thank you ?
  2. could be part-time subbing or full-time. I have been a nurse bedside in the hospital for 5+ years as a 2nd career and am so excited to be interviewing for this position. What are some questions I might expect, just preparing myself for the interview ? I can imagine head injury protocol, allergy response (epiPen), but beyond that I would love to hear what types of questions were asked of you? Large county system so this will be a new adventure for me. If I get hired, what are some good resources for a school nurse to have onsite?

  4. I have just started applying for jobs, a number have the online application/background check forms to fill out, they ask to list ALL employment? I am not sure of how to do this, I had some temp jobs after I left my previous career, than stayed at home with children for the past 11+ years, have volunteer experience listed on my resume (but not actual employment?). I am not sure how to fill this out--says to list ALL employment, do I even go as far back as my first job out of college (more than 20 years ago?). None of it relates to nursing though I do list my last editorial job as I was a Manager so include that for the management experience? Thanks so much for any info
  5. "I just feel that it is time for me to be the patient, Doctor.!"
  6. Thanks, I am now even more determined. But of course will seek other avenues until I get that first New Grad job. Just a bit harder, as a 2nd career graduate with alot of life experience being booted out due to a computer's decision with some very neither here-nor-there questions. But c'est la vie :-)
  7. Just got a note from recruiter, really trying to get into Psych Nursing, had to do some sort of personality/assessment testing....answered regarding likely scenarios I saw during clinical and/or daily life, got back an instant not going to extend an interview at this time. I avoided most absolutes in the test (such as Always, Never) but am now wondering if I should have prepped beforehand? Kind of caught of guard and just took it instantly? any advice, I was really hoping to get an interview? Are these common tests, are there things to know before you take them? Just kind of threw me... thanks!
  8. meant took test Tues. afternoon, name on BON y'day p.m. pending and with license ## today :-)
  9. Still cant access Vue for quick results yet, but assuming if I have a license ## after my name on BON I passed :) Quick Vue worked for me yday. Info that helped me pass, first-time taker, the Kaplan Q bank, took it daily for 2 weeks, highest scores 60-70s. I thought I failed when I took NCLEX, but did what the free Kaplan class I registered for told me, went really slow with first 15 questions to try and get above the line so that if I got many wrong later they were higher level, and it worked :-) BEst of luck!!!
  10. Good luck! Im finishing the program in 2 weeks! Cannot wait! it is a hard 2 years but you learn so much and the clinicals and the teachers are wonderful. Best of luck to you all!
  11. Thank you! I had such a great first day in my L&D clinical, alot of shadowing like you said, also helping coach during labor and delivery, seeing the beautiful newborn. Amazing. Wow. Loved it!
  12. I',m looking forward to the day, but want to be sure I'm on top of my skills--practiced cath and straight cath--any info? how often does this happen? also vit. K inject and hep B, hold baby's leg right? reflexes, usually the elbow area is this right, when checking after epi. (or use of magnesium for hypertension???). want to be on my game :) My professor or the actual nurse will be with me, but I want to be as prepared as I can be. Thanks!
  13. HI, stay at home Mom here (45) with an 11 yr old anda 6 yr old. I took prereqs one at a time while youngest was in 1/2 day nursery school (classes at night, studied at day)...started Nursing school for RN last year when youngest started all-day K, am in my last year now with eldest in Middle School, youngest in 1st. It is hard but doable...I try to study whenthey are at school so I am HERE in body and spirit with them when they get home, also lots of late nights studying :) MANY Moms in my program. You can do it :-)
  14. Hi, I am in my last year of Nursing school for the RN (2nd career after being at home with my 2 daughters for 10 years, previously editorial jobs). I LOVED my psych rotation (have a real interest in psych as well as a younger brother with addiction issues/rehab etc so also interested in that venue as well). I plan to take the summer off for the NCLEX and spend with my girls before starting a job in nursing, but would love to hear of what steps I could be taking now as to proceed in this direction. Oddly enough, during clinicals, of the 8 students in my group I was the only one who enjoyed psych nursing--most of the other students hated it?
  15. Thanks!......:) off to bed....
