Here's to trauma season beginning.....

Here in Florida it's been in full swing for a while. The only good thing is there is so much traffic in the winter, high speed collisions go down and fender benders with more minor injuries.

Here's to it ending soon! :)

There's a season. Ive been doing emergency medicine for years and about the only thing that changes is the mechanism of the trauma. Outdoor trauma vs indoor trauma. Age is about the same and stupidity/drugs/alcohol are the leading factors. Allthough there is the occasional bad luck- those seem to be the worst ones.

Okay, so if we did away with alcohol, drugs, sex and stupid people - we'd be in the unemployment line!

Here in mid-North Indiana we have already had a few motorcycle "Trauma One's". Indiana has no helmet laws so head injuries abound starting in the Spring. Unfortunately, due to the stupidity of my hospital organization, we are losing our best neurosurgeon and we will have to rely on incompetent PHI to fly out our traumas.

well, at least the beginning of trauma season means the ending of the cough/puke in your face season (unless it's the head injury puking in your face) :wink2:
