Trauma Season

Here's to trauma season beginning.....

:o Tuesday we were holding 22 in a 20 bed ER, no more monitors, no more commodes, no more overcart tables, no more patience...yeah, we were on by-pass...then of course the level 1 comes in so the whold ER is gawking at this poor hit n run dude puking and being intubated...oh god what a mess that was.

so we ran a 2 hall bed and one room ER in minor care, which has it own problems! The whole issue is no floor/tele/ICU RNs or managers take call, so that when we are stuffed up with patients, we do "floor care" and not nearly as well as patients deserve. Then, the freaking floors write us up because we don't have all the stuff in order the way they like it! I hate it when patients ask me if they have to pay as much for the ED bed as they do for a floor bed. I know that they do, and I know that they're paying for nursing care, but I feel bad for them, because it's utter chaos down there. :uhoh21:
