So I found out 2 weeks ago that if I wanted to, I could sit the TEAS and potentially enroll in the ADN program starting on the 27th at Keiser University Melbourne. Keiser is different than most schools as it requires TEAS scores before any prerequisite course material is done: ie, they expect applicants to be college freshmen who intend to complete their prerequisites in freshman year, and start their core in 2nd year.
So I said what the hell. I'm not getting any younger, and putting this off is just delaying my dreams. So I signed up, got out the ATI TEAS V study manual, and started reading and practicing. I remembered NOTHING of math beyond the simple order of operations; I had to re-learn all of my fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, inequalities, irrational numbers, algebraic expressions, solving for X etc etc etc.... And let's not even TALK about Science. The first part was easy, second part made me want to cry. For you all who are preparing for the TEAS I hope it is okay to say that the TEAS is harder than what the manual preps you for - beware!!!!
Anyway, I studied, stressed, cried, and swore I'd never pass it for the past two weeks. Went in this morning and was strangely calm. Blew through the test in about half the allotted time... and as I realized how fast I had finished, I just knew I had bombed it. I thought when I submitted my final English question I would have to go up to the desk to fetch my results, so when they popped up and I read them I audibly gasped, I wish I hadn't, I felt bad, because...
TEAS V Adjusted Individual Total Score - 84.0%. Academic preparedness level: Advanced.
Reading (Required Score 76) - 92.9%
Math (Required Score 75) - 90.0%
Science (Required Score 59) - 72.9%
English and Language Usage (Required Score 70) - 83.3%
I am so incredibly happy, words cannot even express. All this worrying and studying and going absolutely nuts was worth it. So to all of you who are taking the TEAS with very little background knowledge and not much study time, you CAN do it!!!!!! I owe it all to that study guide, and all of you for your helpful posts!!!
Best wishes to all in the pursuit of your dreams!!!

Congrats on those scores! I am taking the TEAS in Wednesday (15) also in Melbourne with hopes to be able to also start on the 27th. My math has been horrible all my life, I have been studying on/off since June. I am terrified of this test. I have already been accepted to a school in Orlando but dreading the drive from Palm Bay twice a week for the first year and then probably more than just 2 days a week for core classes and clinicals. (they don't require a TEAS). That's why I'm trying locally first but can't help but feel so negative about it.

Oh!!!! You live in my town, and you'd be in my graduation class!!! Study the TEAS V manual like it's a matter of life and death and you WILL pass the TEAS with great scores, I promise! I started studying on Aug 1... that's 10 days of study. Had a pretty nasty car accident on Aug 3 which put me out of commission for 2 days, and then a catastrophic migraine on the 7th-8th that also put me out of commission. That means I studied for a grand total of six days. Six. And I had to relearn all of the Math and Science.
Study. You have four days. STUDY. You can do it!!!!!!!!!!! And I hope to see you on the 27th!!!
Thank you very much!!! :) :) :)

Wow! Great Testimony! I also live in Palm Bay; and I always drive up and down South Babcock taking a quick but steady glance at KU. I have the Teas V study guide and I just feel so overwhelmed when I open the book...I hope that I have the mental motivation to fight this battle of studying to pass that dreadful exam. Great Luck to you and Congrats!

WOW - great scores, RD. Good for you! I'm applying to our RN program 3rd week of September and the TEAS is around there. I feel a little overwhelmed with the amount of study options - I do have a book. Gonna check to see if it's the one you mention. I'm an "older" adult that returned to school, and I can't believe how much I still have test anxiety - just like when I was a kid! Anyway, congratulations! You are on your way!

Hey I remember replying to one of your previous posts in the TEAS section. To do so well without taking prerequisites is great. You did an excellent job. Well done!

Congrats on those scores!! I'm sure you are relieved! I'm taking the TEAS V in 2 weeks and have been studying for the past three weeks. I'm hoping to make at least an 85 adjusted score. Wish me luck

It looks like you were well-prepared. I could only hope my study manuals prepared me as much as they did for you ^_^
