took nclex 14x still failed

Published

I have done everything I can to pass this exam books, classes, time, quit working etc. but still no luck. i really feel hopeless now and very ashamed of myself as most of my junior friends have come to pass the exam their 1st and 2nd time. Really don't know what to do now

Hi Casey 1765,

I can not believe some of the negative comments I read here!

I too failed my NCLEX exam 6 months ago but I have not given up on my dream of being an RN. I am 50 year programmer analyst who got laid off 3 years ago, got my house foreclosed, in short lost everything, except my dream of someday becoming a nurse. I finally got the courage to go to Nursing School at my age and graduated last year! I am very proud of what achieved so far and I know I will pass my NCLEX exam! You will too Casey 1765! Believe me coz I believe in you just like your fellow positive future nurses and Positive RNs that are reading this thread right now! Don't ever give up on your dreams Casey 1765 !

I think you really need to take a different approach to how or what you are studying. Also pay close attention to the categories in the candidate report, is there a theme of which client category your are below the passing standard in? Really focus on those. Also a refresher course may be in order. How many questions did u get on average on each of the tests? is there a certain topic they really hammer you on? Another thing is to believe in your self when you are taking the test. You did pass nursing school you do know something. Believe you can do it and envision your self as a nurse. If you talk negative to yourself you will perform that way. Good luck and don't give up on your dreams.

Please do not listen to the negatives, you can pass too.

I'm sorry to be another negative but if you have not passed 14 times then please find another career. Obviously, something was not retained. I would ask for another nurse if I ever thought I had one who could barely pass the NCLEX. The test is supposed to be the minimum required to be competent as a new grad. Just wow

I'm just outdone with some of the remarks in this thread. OP I truly apologize that you are getting some of the feedback that you have gotten. I really hope that you can look past the negative. Do what your heart is telling you. If being a nurse is what you want to be, then pull yourself up, dust yourself off, RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX. Take a refresher course. Get a study buddy. Take the NCLEX again, and PASS IT! You can do it. You graduated nursing school, obviously you have what you need. Learn how to use what you already have. Good luck and God speed. Prayers up for you.

I would never tell anyone to rethink their career path or question how they made it through nursing school. Obviously they made it just fine because they graduated. Surely a refresher course or live review classes may be needed, but exercise the therapeutic communication you all learned in nursing school and stop being cruel. Casey1765, I wish you the best in obtaining your nursing license and please do not give up. Really focus on the content and STRATEGIES for answering the questions.

Sometimes truth is the most "therapeutic" communication can be. I'd rather be cruel in killing someone's dream than be a cheerleader and let someone that can't pass a MINIMUM competency exam become a nurse and kill my mother or kill YOUR child or other loved one.

@ProfRN4...if you knew that it sounded harsh....why did you say it! Cruel!

You know what, I failed the 6th time, just found out today.,.. But I will not give up until I have my license, I finished my nursing school 2003 and was 8 months pregnant in germany, came to the USA, started preparing myself for nclex with zero English, with a dictionary aside of Kaplan books....everybody has different problems , mine was at the beginning the language, the more time passes by, you forget lots of things you learned at nursing school... Missing the practical part on site makes a lot of difference....only reading books is not going to help , but we try.... Even you my friend will pass the test , I think god has his planes for a all of us, our time is just not yet:)))) god bless you

A test does not determine the type of nurse.you will become. Obviously they were successful in GRADUATING from nursing school but you never know what other stressors they are dealing with that prevents them from being successful on the exam. Truth is one thing but there is no need to be cruel and if that make me a cheerleader then so be it! No need to be jerks or talk down to someone. They came looking for help not cruelty and judgement. Shame on ya'll!

The last comment on this post was June 5th before you posted which obviously means you searched for this topic

which I have yet to understand. You took time out of your day to search for a post to ONLY to leave a negative comment! Wow! Also how would you know that a nurse who is caring for you failed NCLEX numerous times? Not once have I seen or heard anyone ask a nurse "how many times did you take NCLEX" Apparently you had a bad day & wanted to find someone to bring down with you. Just WOW!

Now to original poster NEVER EVER GIVE UP! You can inbox me & we can study together.

Really? You think failing 14 times is reasonable?

Really? You think failing 14 times is reasonable?

Did you read anywhere where I typed "failing 14 times is reasonable" My comment was to address the negativity

& the fact that someone searched & pulled up a 3 month old post to ONLY be negative. For all we know the OP could've passed by now.
