I have done everything I can to pass this exam books, classes, time, quit working etc. but still no luck. i really feel hopeless now and very ashamed of myself as most of my junior friends have come to pass the exam their 1st and 2nd time. Really don't know what to do now
How did you pass the exams in nursing school?
If you're really determined to be a nurse, I suggest a private tutor to review content and how to be a critical thinker, you must not be understanding the critical thinking process.
What is the point of a licensing exam if they allow someone to take it so many times? I'd imagine one could pass off of luck eventually, by taking it that many times.
This is only going to sound harsh, I'm aware. BUT, honestly, there should be a cap on how many times a person can take the NCLEX. FOURTEEN times and fourteen failures speak volumes. Especially if you've done all that you said you have. I too am wondering how in the world you got through nursing school....

Back to the thread...
I need the OP to come back...my questions are:
1)How long did you study prior to taking the NCLEX;
2) What are you having difficulty in, according to the results report;
3) How well were you doing in nursing school? Did you have test anxiety? ADD, etc, and were you getting assistance and help in developing a study plan???
I ask those questions because, I have mood/ anxiety issues...HAD terrible test anxiety when I went to nursing school...I even failed an ADN nursing school before dusting myself off, going to PN and BSN programs, respectfully, and passed the NCLEX's successfully.
OP, scrap and start at ground zero, with the exception of what was the last results review.
If you are having anxiety issues, I suggest to give yourself 2 months to study.
What are your weaknesses?
If its prioritization, utilize LaCharity...
If its alternative questions, SATA, utilize Lippinicott and alternative question sources.
If its knowledge based info you need to brush up on, Exam-CRAM, and NCSBN.
Clamming up and shutting down on questions? Utilize Kaplan.
Need to get in the "mode" to answer questions? Utilize Saunders.
Need help with pharmacology in a hurry?? PharmPhlash cards do just that.
I studied from each of these sources within a two month period. Each of these have excellent strengths, and, for me, help in anything I had issues with.
I was working 30-40 hours a week and still studied with flash cards with NCLEX questions, and each review.
If you want one source, I highly recommend the NCSBN...from the makers of the NCLEX.
Above all: DON'T FORGET TO REVIEW RATIONALES. If you review rationales, and still don't understand, review the content. Focus on the four sections of the NCLEX: Safe and effective care environment; Health promotion and Maintenance; Psychosocial Integrity; Physiological Integrity.
Good Luck on your success. Just start at square one again.
I would never tell anyone to rethink their career path or question how they made it through nursing school. Obviously they made it just fine because they graduated. Surely a refresher course or live review classes may be needed, but exercise the therapeutic communication you all learned in nursing school and stop being cruel. Casey1765, I wish you the best in obtaining your nursing license and please do not give up. Really focus on the content and STRATEGIES for answering the questions.

How about prioritization by La Charity and lippincot answer banks.
