i took the nclex without reviewing

Published

I have long been postponing my NCLEX due to the fact that I'm too scared to fail. I wanted to pass it the first time I take it. My brother told me this: not taking the NCLEX, not trying is tantamount to failing. What I did was I scheduled for an exam and took the NCLEX without reviewing. I did this ultimately to combat my fear. I don't have the results yet and I feel that I did not pass=P But at least I was able to face my fears and gauge my knowledge. I got a feel of the actual exam. and I will not be too scared and I WILL PASS the next time I take my NCLEX. I was just wondering if there are other people who did the same? or am I completely insane like what my friends tell me?

Let me tell you...the pvt really does work! I took my nclex with computer shutting off at 75 second week in july. I knew I failed. I could just feel the questions were easy and I did'nt know the answers to them.As soon as I got home did pvt and went straight to cc page. Then I read what seemed like hundreds of posting because I live in cali and we don't have quick results. I waited two weeks exactly and received fail letter. Another student in my class same thing, went to cc page and she failed. So, I was despondent :( but finally have picked myself up and have been studying. I have all the resources, I think too many. Kaplan from school and renewed for three more months since I did'nt pass. Virtual ati, exam cram, saunders, memory notebook for nurses, and then I bought the hurst book! I have books piled all around me!! Because, I do not know where to start! I do follow what the virtual ati instructor tells me but I live and dream nclex!!!! HELP :crying2:

Don't feel bad, I failed too. I took NCLEX on 8/7/10 and I kinda thought that I got enough right to pass but I was wrong. I felt down at first but now I have come to accept it. I made good grades in school and I feel as if there is no way to study for this test. Havn't picked up a book since. :crying2:

I scored 83% on the ATI predictor, which gives me a 99% chance of passing. I'm still studying, but I'm focusing less on NCLEX-style questions and more on areas that I feel I'm weak in or that I'll actually need to know in order to perform my job. For example I bought a clinical guide that has very clear, step-by-step instructions for performing clinical skills, which I keep re-reading and visualizing. I'm also reviewing drugs and labs... there's really no limit to how much you can study this stuff. For now my focus isn't passing the NCLEX, it's succeeding as an actual nurse.

I am taking the exam within the next week or two. I have been doing kaplans exclusively. There is so much content to review! I feel as if i never attended school! i am reviewing and retesting myself. Hope it works! Looking forward to getting this done the first time! Have a bit of pressure too as i have some interest of potential employers. Plus my wife and extended family. Oh yes and i would like a few days to vacation before the summers over and done!
