Gastric content aspiration- No residual and with resistance HELLLP!!
Hello! I need help with G-tube feeding please!! PLEASE PLEASE My company has its own policy, but just to be safe, I follow the policy as well as what I learned from the books. I just can't exactly remember it, though. Please help mee!!! I don't want my supervisor to know that I am not confident with what I am doing.. For bolus feeding, this is what I do in order: 1.flush with water as per doc's order 2.administer feeding as per doc's order 3.flush again with water My problem is with checking for the placement of the G-tube. Before I do the steps aforementioned, (please teach me please teach me...) -I place my stet at the lower epigastric area and inject 10cc of air, and listen for THAT sound. -I aspirate gastric contents by injecting 30cc of air and then aspirating for the gastric content. If it's milky in color- that's the residual from the previous feeding. If it's more than 100, wait 1 hour before giving the feeding (after checking for gastric contents again) If it's the gastric juice, inject it back and start the feeding by doing step 1. My question is, how come sometimes when I try to aspirate for gastric content, nothing comes out? Am I doing it right? While aspirating, I lower down the tube to let the gastric content flow down by gravity. Helllp what do I do?? I'm afraid the tube might not be in place and I am administering the feeding!!! Also, If there is a little blood in the tube (might be due to irritation), do I aspirate it or do I flush it? Thanks! I would really appreciate some help here...

How to study for NCLEX on F1 visa
- L.A. nclex-rn study group
so far there are 3 people who have committed to this study group. we are looking for 2-3 more people. if you are interested, pls. send me a pm. thanks! Hello! Do you find yourself procrastinating on reviewing for the NCLEX? Do you want people to share review resources with? Do you want to study in silence yet NOT be alone? Do you want to be with people who are just like you- reviewing for the NCLEX? Hello! My name is Em-em and this is NOT (lol) a sales pitch. I live in the 90027 area near Children's hospital & Kaiser Permanente and I am trying to form a 5-6head group to study with in a public place (like sbucks, cofeebean, borders etc). I like to study in silence, but I have tried this method and have found it to be beneficial for me. For my board exam in my home country, I reviewed with 2 people I did not know. We would meet up in a coffee place and study for hours and allot "break times" for questions someone in the group might have an answer for. We shared resources (and costs) on some review materials like an online dictionary that we ALL used. We shared flash cards, book lights and all. Going to Sbucks (and the like) and staying there for hours would cost a lot. Especially if you would sit there and feel stupid after being alone for 30 minutes. Then! you'd start using your cellphone to call friends (distraction) and when you get back home you realize that you didn't accomplish anything. If we stay there as a group, we could buy a cup of coffee to last us the whole time we are at Sbucks(or wherever) and bring out packed lunch, eat it there without getting intimidated. Or we could go for lunch out in groups without worrying that there's not going to be an available chair at Sbucks when we get back because our group mates are going to be there saving chairs for us. Sure you could bring your laptop or your cellphone- but knowing that you are in a study group would somehow prevent you from playing around too much. Studying alone at home with your bed enticing you to sleep or your phone always ringing, or just seeing things unorganized and you'd want to take care of them first before you study, going online for a "short" while and actually staying in front of the computer the whole day - are all not very helpful. It's always fun to have a review group especially when you have people who seriously WANT to study and somehow can't find studying alone to be effective. I don't know where this would lead me, but I hope something good will come out of this post. I have this thread anyone wants to form a study group in LA? I posted the the other day and I am speaking with a potential study group mate. We live close by each other. if you are near the 90026, 90027 area if you would like to review for the NCLEX-RN and would like to join our group, please send me a private message. Thank you! P.S. I've had suggestions about studying in someone's house or apt. That would be comfortable, but since we don't know each other, for now I don't think that will be a good idea=)- Do you procrastrinate? Do you wish you have people to REALLY review with?
Thank you very much for this information=) Are college conference rooms open to non-students? I live close by LACC, but I am not a student.- Do you procrastrinate? Do you wish you have people to REALLY review with?
I always joked about having a video conference study group. lol. My friends and I were thinking about it. They were then the strangers I reviewed with for my local board exam in Asia. The thing is, I live here in California and the other one lives in Asia. The other one is in New York. Time difference won't allow us to do it. Goodluck on your NCLEX review=)- Do you procrastrinate? Even if you get an F1 extension, you can't say here indefinitely and work here. As an F1 visa holder, you will be permitted to work part time according to the number of credits you have completed, for a limited number of hours a week. You must work a part time job related to the course you are taking. You cannot drop a subject or be absent because you will be reported to the USCIS if you do this. I'm not sure where the US completion of BSN would take you because right now, there are no visas available for foreign RNs- whether you are US trained or not. All those employers who are telling you that they will sponsor you as an RN and you must stay here now are fake. They cannot be above the law. There may be other ways, but you will never be sponsored as an RN for now. I have zillions of friends who have overstayed because they were fooled into believing that their papers will be fixed. Now they are out of status. No RN licensed could save you from being out of status. I would suggest that you talk to an immigration lawyer and discuss your options on staying here. However, let me remind you that there are currently a lot of US-trained RNs who are having troubles finding a job for the reason that most employers are looking for seasoned RNs. If you are a new foreign-trained RN/US-trained but on an F1 visa and you need a sponsor to stay here, and there are a couple of new US-trained RNs with authorization to legally work here, and you are all applying for a job, who do you think these employers will hire? If you want to stay here, you have to think about long term plans. Seek advise from a reputable immigration lawyer.- How to study for NCLEX on F1 visa
I don't understand how you one could keep his/her F1 status by enrolling in a review course. If you intend to stay here, I would suggest that you focus on maintaining your status. If you become out of status, even if you passed your NCLEX, you will not be able to work as an RN here. I would suggest that you enroll for another course or a masteral degree to maintain your status. If you could do this while studying, that would be better.- 2nd battle with NCLEX
