Well I took the NCLEX-PN today. I sure don't feel like I did very good. I got 85 questions...took me about 65-75 minutes. I guess I did really good or really bad since I only got 85 questions. I know i got the last question right but I know that doesn't mean anything. I honestly don't feel that the questions were really easy or really hard. A few of them I thought were easy so I figured I missed the question before. However, a lot of them I don't think I really had a clue! I got a lot of priority questions and I think maybe that's why a lot of them I wasn't sure of because they all were probably right but just determining which one comes first. I tried using Maslow's, ABC's, and nursing process but I don't think it helped! I got 2 click all that apply questions, probably about 10 med questions which is unfortunate becomes pharmacology is not my thing and they were all on side effects or the action. I don't think I got one peds questions, a few OB, and no dosage calc. I really think I failed though...honestly I don't know what to think! Now comes the worst part...waiting. I sure hope I don't have to go through this again!!!
You know how we all get that feeling of "uh oh I'm didn't pass"? (or most of us) Well she just bought "Exam Cram PN" and realized she was reading into the questions too much. You can't do the "what if". Just stick to the facts on hand.
But she did have an uneasy feeling when leaving...
And I even told her "no one seems to fail with 85" after looking like you did at previous postings. Boy did I feel bad when she did!
Hey all.... My PN exam cut off at 85 and I did pass....yeah!! I really don't know any rhyme or reason for the number of questions you get. Eight of my classmates (from a class of 13) have passed our exam so far... the other 5 are testing this next week. Out of the 8 of us who have taken it, about 5 or 6 had the test cut off at 85; the others had 129, 140, and one even had the entire 205 questions ....and they all passed. Don't really know how it works but good luck to everyone!

Know one seems to know really how it works. Some get 85 and pass or fail, some get 130, 149 and 205 and pass or fail. Like you said, there's no rhyme or reason to it. It's a big mystery. And I think the Board likes it that way!
I did my Suanders N-Clex-PN study guide. Any time I had difficulty I wrote the topic down and then looked it up after I had finished that section (i.e. renal and urinary, pediatric, maternity, etc.). I passed on the first time. Just remember with all this studying you need to have some fun too. Good luck.

Mmmmmmm. Over-reading the question is the WORST thing for the NCLEX! It took my whole year of school to teach myself not to do that!

One of the students that was in my class just failed with 85. It happens I guess, but not very often.
