Hi there!
Is there anyone in this forum like me who is planning to work in US without any employment agency?
I don't have any employment agency taking care of my application in US right now. I am just lucky to have a distant relative who referred me to work in NJ as a direct hire.
It has been very difficult for me because I have to shell out a good sum of money from my own savings. I paid the attorney general for the visa processing and all the necessary exams and requirements needed.
Sometimes, I just feel that I am left alone in the dark specially the previous months because of the retrogression issue. I just hope my application is still on the process.
Its a good thing that through this forum, I can say all that I want and express how I feel as a struggling nurse here in the Philippines . All I want is a good future for my husband and 1 year old baby boy.
HI! I would really want your advice on this, I just passed the NCLEX, and a relative of mine from California was suggesting a convalescent home which can sponsor me. Should I take it or look for hospitals that do direct hires? By the way, they're offering $33/hr, 5 years contract (this got me worried).Thanks..
regardless you are affected by retrogression and will not get there any quicker, personally I would look at a hospital and atleast gain some experience both whilst you are waiting but also to get yourself started in the US as you will probably get more support from the hospital
I have gone direct hire & had no recruiter. I cold called the hospital. However, with retrogression most are not hiring direct at present.
Florida Hospital was advertising recently for Critical care/ICU nurses here in the UK last month so there are still some that are actively recruiting but not many.
I think it best to work through a recruiter - though you have to be careful and find a good one. For those who are looking for a recruiter, there is a good list available on the web site of the American Association of Foreign Educated Nurses. (www.aafen.org)
Thanks for posting the link :)
Thanks cobber2007! There are only few crtified nurse recruiters! I'm glad my aunt's agency was one of them! My aunt and uncle are the founders of R....
Hi lenjoy03.... your link is really helpful. it's hard to find reliable recruiters and the info on the site will go a long way for us looking for jobs in the U.S.... :-)
I am an Irish nurse and presently looking for an RN position in Atlanta, Georgia. I have a green card, Qualified as an RN in 2004 with a BSc in nursing science and have five years experience in various specialties in Australia and Ireland.
I am awaiting my licence from GBON and have original licencure in Vermont. I have applied for twenty two jobs in the Atlanta area and all the nurse recruiters are uninterested. I have tried to call them every day, left a message and nobody gets back to me. Its very frustrating. I feel like im not being given a chance and am being discriminated against. I check the job status website everyday and see that another position has been filled. I havnt been to any interviews yet.
Can anyone tell me why I am so unemployable???????????/ unappealable/????

Silverdragon gave you good advice, things seem a bit bleek in GA. Have you tried to apply to long term care with your background you are a good fit.
