To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..

Good day!

I am considering trying my luck as a nurse in New Zealand.

Can anyone here help me and tell me what to expect in the 2-3months competency assessment? Is it really like attending formal school where you have lectures, exams, reports? Anyone ever failed that??

How long does it take to get a working visa after registering with NCNZ, provided of course one passed the assessment? How long does it take to get permanent residency?

How do I find a good consulting agency that can help me with the processing? Or dont I need one anymore?

I also would appreciate it if Filipino Nurses can share their experiences in NZ. Was the transition hard? How do you like the weather?

Any practical tips about starting my application to work as a nurse there besides looking at the NCNZ website?

Thanks a lot in advance!

i think it's the same requirements. no noticeable changes.. i hope that they did not become more strict though...

hi! i have read the application form and gazette regarding overseas nursing registration in nz. however, they did not specify their clearly the required work/employment experience...

nz will entertain overseas app starting oct1, but the effective date is nov1. this sounds confusing

Guys i need your help. I am already eligible to take CAP and it will expire on sept 18, 2011. I just want to know what will I do next? do you know a website with all the schools offering CAP?What are the requirements?? Thanks!

Try nurse2nz forum :)

the new zealand nursing council asks for a minimum of 1 year hospital experience or working as a paramedic nurse before you can enroll in the CAP

no..it cannot substitute....the new zealand nursing council requires IELTS, 7 in all areas and at least 1 year hospital experience and/or paramedic nurse before you can proceed with your CAP...CAP is required before you can get your practicing certificate as a registered nurse in new zealand

Good Day Everyone!

I have read every page of this thread and I am in  with all the information given.

Firstly, I am a Registered Nurse working as a ICU Staff Nurse for more than 2 years now. And I would really like to start my application for New Zealand the soonest possible time.

Anyway, I do not intend to get the services of an agency. I want to do it on my own since my resources are limited. I want to save as much as I can.

What is the first thing to do? I've tried going to the NCNZ website but it says "error".

I have heard its getting difficult to get a CAP Slot these days, how many months are usually the waiting period for someone to get in?

Thank you!

Hello again!!

To those Nurses in NZ, please help me out!

Is it really okay/possible if I will not hire any agency in processing my application?

I am thinking it might be hard to get a CAP school if ill do it on my own.

No reason why you can not do it on your own, just take the time to complete the paperwork

Thank you Silverdragon102! Much appreciated!

I just want to ask, is there an expiration on your Nursing Council decision letter?
