Took the OSCE two weeks ago and passed it on my first take at University of Northampton! All I can say is, practice, practice and practice!!! And the support of your trust/hospital will definitely go a long way. With that being said, despite being so prepared with the exam, the pressure at Northampton almost took its toll on my chances of passing the exam. On my 1st bay, I was clearly not the same way I was in practice and forgot a few things so I made sure that the next stations were a different story. And it was!

Hey, been a long time. Hello everyone!! This thread was very informative, really helped me a lot in my NMC application last year (around July 2016). Been living here in the UK since November and just recently passed the OSCE on my 1st take. God is good!! :) To those who are waiting for their DL or COS, try to do some advance reading as it will really help you prepare for your OSCE. The national passing rate I believe is still less than 50%.

One month would suffice. I've heard that the exam now is getting harder as compared to, say, last year or earlier this year (probably because of the high passing rate). So its always good to take the exam fully prepared! Best of Luck!

Late reply but.. Gaps shouldn't be a cause of concern as long as you have at least 1 year of Nursing Experience within the last 3 years, as written in their webpage. Your ICU Nursing experience should even be sufficient enough for you to apply, but NMC will definitely ask you on your Enrolled Nurse experience in Singapore. (That's another problem to focus on: Singapore license verification, police clearance, etc).

They don't answer your phone call? Are you sure? This is the first time I have read that NMC doesn't answer phone calls. As a loyal caller (lol hahaha) to NMC, there was never an incident that my phone call wasn't answered. In fact, if you call them during the least busy times on a given day, they'll answer right away (and they have some of the most helpful and accommodating operators in the world, I am telling you). Better call them again. Don't depend on email alone as it takes a lot of time for them to reply. Best of Luck!

Did Barts HR gave you an assurance that you will have your COS after November 5 allocation? I have a friend who wasn't given COS last October and she is just livid and disappointed right now. I honestly don't know why she was not given COS. I'm just a little adamant and anxious right now. I have asked ASC to move my deployment by next year due to my parent's health condition, but with the way things are going, it is certainly a cause of concern. I really pray this will be sorted out come November 5 COS allocation (whatever the problem was/is).

Gen88 is right. She said (if you look and read closely her post), "The only study materials PROVIDED". Yup, Marsden is a big help in CBT review but there was never a mention from NMC to study Marsden. I believe it's only the NMC blue print that they've been stressing on from Day 1. And 90% of your exam might came from Marsden but that's not true in all of us. In my case, most of my questions were from the NMC blue print. I hope future CBT takers reading this forum will be guided accordingly. Marsden is a big help, but never ever skip (at least reading once) the blue print.

Hi. Congrats on getting your DL!! Yes, that's correct. First cohort arrived last Sep 29. I have a friend who is part of the second cohort and she said that the Nov 3 deployment is rescheduled - for what reason, I don't know. As far as I know there are around 20+ of them on that second cohort. I deferred my deployment (supposed to be part of the 1st+2nd cohorts but I have personal reasons). Lots and lots of nurses are getting their DLs, from what I have heard, I hope deployment will be monthly.

Is this true?

NMC clearly said that Decision Letters usually come within 40-70 working days. I think it will also depend on how busy they can get (increased number of applicants). NMC will inform you (thru email) whether an assessment has been carried out in relation to your application and you can download your DL in the NMC portal. And yes, as soon as you receive your Decision Letter, you can book for your OSCE. Best of Luck to you!

"Not everyone from the 1st cohort"? As far as I know all of those in the 1st cohort are going. They're leaving Sep 28, if I remembered it correctly. Really good news. Hopefully we're next :) I will probably be in the 3rd cohort in January as I am trying to fix some family businesses right now and ASC has been very accommodating with my request.

Its working days, not calendar days. You can confirm this by calling NMC. They have some of the nicest customer service representatives, IMHO. Pretty straight-forward in answering you and are really helpful.

Nope. Not necessarily. That is entirely dependent on your employer whether they will apply COS for you with or without DL (Decision Letter). COS can be given even without a decision letter and applying for a working visa doesn't need DL as well, just COS and a few other documents. Best of luck!!
