Good day!
I am considering trying my luck as a nurse in New Zealand.
Can anyone here help me and tell me what to expect in the 2-3months competency assessment? Is it really like attending formal school where you have lectures, exams, reports? Anyone ever failed that??
How long does it take to get a working visa after registering with NCNZ, provided of course one passed the assessment? How long does it take to get permanent residency?
How do I find a good consulting agency that can help me with the processing? Or dont I need one anymore?
I also would appreciate it if Filipino Nurses can share their experiences in NZ. Was the transition hard? How do you like the weather?
Any practical tips about starting my application to work as a nurse there besides looking at the NCNZ website?
Thanks a lot in advance!
I wan't to look for a sponsor hospital who would cover the expenses of my CAP.can you guys give any suggestions?
its much appreciated.
thank you in advance!\

BUPA Care (who also gives financial support for accommodation, etc, depending on your arrangement) in NZ sponsors the CAP, as well as Rosebank. but there's a hitch.
You have to work for them for a couple of years (i think?) and the cost of the course is deducted from your salary in the duration of your employment there.
weigh it out. ^^
hi im new here& im really interested to work in New Zealand. I currently have six months hospital volunteer experience. I understand that International nurses have to to undergo CAP before they could get registered in NZ. and I believe that one of CAP requirement is hospital experience. im confuse, does NcNZ require working experience or do they recognize volunteer experience as well?
Please can anyone answer my enquery?Thanx
The Nursing Council of New Zealand recommends 2 years since most bridging course providers require students to have at least 2 years experience under their belt. But there are other schools though that accept less than that. However, you have a wider range of choice for CAP schools if you have 2 years experience and up.
And another thing, your work experience will also determine your starting rate when you work and it also gives you an competitive advantage when applying for jobs. :)
Gday everyone! I got a question:
Schools require that long work experience too? (I mean 1-2 years)
What if I was accepted by the board of nursing and gave me the Letter of recommendation to complete a pre-registration qualification? Is it different from the CAP? I hope someone could answer my question coz I got confused when I read the replies and posts.
My situation is, my papers are already in the council and I'm just waiting for the reply. And I am trying to find a school that offers study for only 6-14 weeks of study. I will pay for everything from tuition to all my other expenses. What I'm confusing with is,
"Is everyone talking about what agencies require (years of experience) for you to be sponsored or the school itself requires those year-long of experience?"
Thank you so much to anyone who could answer.

I'm still waiting for the result. I sent them an email and they replied that it would take my application bout 25-45 working days to be processed. But my application is on queue now they said. I was counting from July 1 so, I will have to wait for few weeks to send them another query if I got no reply... (fingers crossed)
