Title confusion

Published

Hi,

what are the letters that go after your name or title if you get your bachelors of arts like in fine arts 1st then get an associates nursing sciences RN degree? I think that counts as RN-BSN or is that a double bachelors: RN-BSN, BA? TIA :p

An associates nursing sciences isn't a BSN, it's an ASN. I think if you want to use all your alphabet soup it would be what happened first goes first on the title, but most nurses don't use non-nursing degrees in their titles. So, it COULD be Jane Doe, BA, ASN, RN or just Jane Doe, ASN, RN or just plain Jane Doe, RN

I have an ADN,BA,BSN,MSN....I sign my name CRNA and forget the other stuff.

i have a BA and my BSN, i just have plain old" RN" on my badge. nothing fancy,

If you have a BA in fine arts then get an associates in nursing you do not have a BSN. I believe you are supposed to use your degrees first then your liscense then certifications. So you would be transnrs BA, RN. I generally don't bother with my degrees and just write RN and sometimes CSN.

In IL, the state BON decides what we write: traumarus, RN or traumarus, APN (which is either NP, CNS, CNM, CRNA).

RN, APN, or LPN/LVN are the titles that matter. Wouldn't put anything else on my nametag.

I have a master's degree in mechanical engineering, changed careers and got an ADN. The only title I use at work is RN because that's all that matters. Besides, if I signed my name, azhiker RN MSME, someone might want me to redesign their manufacturing equipment or analyze their building's structure. :chuckle

One time I got a name badge, for the fun of it, that said My Name, EIEIO. no one noticed!

I'd just go w/ RN.

I just applied for my new ID badge at my new job. It read "First Last, ASN, RN, BBA, MBA, BSN, MSN, MHP. It got rejected by the print shop. I told them it was okay, just don't call me "late for supper."

last hospital put education after first name (relating to health care) RN BSN.

this hosptial nothing but RN that includes all your NP and MS, so if you are a clin spec, or have extra certifications say in oncology or TNS (trauma). Nothing but RN. BECAUSE....they don't want the public confused as to who is a nurse and did not want an RN looking like they had more education than the other RN taking care of them. Kinda makes me mad (not starting the adn-bsn arguments) that I am 50,000 in debt and don't get to use my BSN in my credentials on my name tag. The hosptial doesn't pay any more money for it anyway....so we all have blue RN name tags. Same city, different hosptials.
