QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
QuoteRep. Mike Turner, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said on Sunday that he expects Speaker Mike Johnson to intervene should any "improper" behavior occur after the speaker appointed two controversial Trump allies to the committee.
"He's going to continue to monitor the situation," Turner said Sunday of Johnson on "Face the Nation," adding that "if there's any indication of anything improper happening," he expects that "the speaker will assert leadership here."
Is it clear that Speaker Johnson is capable of identifying improper behavior or actions? Is Speaker Johnson unaware of the investigation into Ronny Jackson and his demotion? Is he unaware that Perry refused to answer questions about his involvement in the planning of January 6th?
The hypocrisy is just a feature of republican politics now.
Floridians ignore tornado warnings anyway. It's not like we have shelters to go into, but odd they don't have radar coverage for tornadoes in such a populated area.
I remember working at Pizza Hut in the 90's before nursing school and the requirement was that wait staff report their tips daily so they could be taxed. It was controversial with them because they never had to do that before. While it was obeyed they didn't report accurately but the minimum they had to.
Trump wants to exempt tips from taxation. Not sure this is a good idea, not only because it would be expensive, but is it fair? I had a coworker that still worked her job as a bartender because she said as a new grad she made more in tips bartending than her salary at nursing. I realize not all people have the benefit of a well paying job, most are just scraping by.

Or listning to my cult leader tell everyone to peacfully and patriotically make our voices heard that day by doing the great insurrection worse than pear harbour and 9/11? ? That's wouldn't make me a very devout cult member now would it?
Please don't tell my cult leader, I might get kicked out of that too.
Or, you could explain why you are so confused about the events of that day.

No, his point flew right over your head. Bless your heart.

This is going to be a bigger story and bone of contention than the SOTH might have anticipated.
QuoteThe latest: A group of Republican members of the Intelligence Committee met with Johnson in his office on Wednesday evening to voice their concerns.
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) told Axios on Friday that he has "said what I needed to say on that. We've all had it out and kind of had a good talk."
Crenshaw said his "main concern" is maintaining "trust" between the committee's members and the intelligence agencies.
Does the Speaker care more about trust with our Intelligence agencies or does he care more about Trump and that agenda?
I shared this because of this part;
Quote"It came as a shock that any individual would commit such an act on a 91-year-old, but it is truly disturbing when we see the young age of the arrestee,” Sheriff Billy Woods said. "Although I firmly believe he should be held accountable for his crime, as a father, my compassion goes out to his family. Hopefully, his arrest will lead to getting him help that prevents any further such acts.”
The compassion for the the kid and his family is pretty woke.
QuoteMorris, a former member of President Donald Trump's spiritual advisory committee, had long told a story to his congregation and church leaders about a "moral failure" involving sexual sin when he was a young minister in his 20s.
Last week, Cindy Clemishire, now 54, revealed in a post on the church watchdog site The Wartburg Watch that she was 12 when Morris first sexually abused her in 1982. The alleged abuse continued for more than four years, Clemishire told NBC News on Monday
At least he's apparently no longer on Trump's spiritual team although it seems a perfect match.

It was a horrible act and he needs the book thrown at him as an adult.
Still there is nothing wrong about feeling some compassion for the kid's family in addition to the victim and their family. Although it might be in poor taste to say it out loud.
My best friend's neighbors, a good upstanding family that were snowbirds from Canada's son went to prison for murder for life. It shattered and destroyed them, and while the family of the murder victim deserves all the compassion first and foremost, the forgotten victims are the family, particularly parents of the perpetrator. A member here years ago spoke her son making headlines and going to prison for many years. Her family's grief and misery were palpable.
Off topic, there was a really good movie with stunning acting about the parents of a murderer meeting the victim's parents.

NEB bowled with a young mother in Michigan who had a son the same age as our oldest daughter. We moved to a different community and her son was involved in the murder of an elderly woman in the community. It was pretty bad for her as she knew the family of the victim well. Honestly, I was glad that we were removed from the community before it happened, it was a real awful period of time.
I saw this on Jeffrey Marsh's Instagram. Jeffrey Marsh is a non-binary/trans queer activists that many times has been accused of being a groomer.
He rightfully pointed out that the majority of groomers are heterosexual men going after girls. Yet the queer community bears a brunt of such accusations. Anyway, the story he pointed out was about a Pastor named Robert Morris whose story of him as a young man abusing a 12 year old girl came out. He apparently is a man of prominence in the religious community and is/was a spiritual advisor to Trump (big fail there).

I think the fear or concern comes from the differing opinios of people in regards to children learning or being exposed to sexual topics, lgbtq or otherwise at a certain age. Parents believe they have a say in this but others say they should not have a say. Them default to accusations of bigotry and intolerance.
It is a known grooming technique to expose children to nudity and sexual topics in mild forms then gradually increase the intensity. This is to lessen inhibition.
I do not believe there is a huge amount of LGBTQ groomers. However, as with all statistics, the amount of perpetrators is in correlation to the population. Of course there is more heterosexual men groomers than non binary or trans. There is more retro male men in the population.
It's hard to measure as the data is complicated. Ex: is the groomer bio male or female? Female to male, male to female? Both? I'm not sure how a study would be able to effectively negotiate the data and calculate any accurate numbers.
Throwing fantastical accusations and calling eachother desparaging names will not solve the problem either. (In general, not saying you are).
It's hard to have a conversation when one side is saying "you are pushing your trans agenda on my child because you are grooming them " and the other saying "you are a transphobic bigot with conspiracy theories who refuses to accept my identity........ ".

Who says that parents shouldn't have a say? That sounds like fear mongering some kind of a boogeyman. Did you get this general feeling from something you've read or can you provide a specific example? In the absence of an example I call baloney.

Do you have a specific example of this happening because I can give you a pretty scary list of examples of that kind of progressive grooming in conservative Christian organizations of all kinds. I know a young woman who was victimized in a conservative "home church" in the Midwest.

Baloney.

No one is pushing a "trans agenda" on the children. That is a conspiracy theory. Grooming of children by the LGBTQ+ is a right wing conspiracy theory intended totrigger conservative people to believe, say and do bigoted things. Helping children to learn how to be polite in society when they encounter people and circumstances different from their own is important.

I saw a video of this tornado on YouTube. We've done some scuba exploration of that area. It's interesting that the state's radar coverage doesn't really include that area which left the 700,000 residents without a tornado warning.
Republicans have been mischaracterizing the intentions of that funding from the start. They can't help themselves.
