Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
Well, I live in Houston so we do have public transportation, it just doesn't operate all night long. the first trip is at like 4:00 or something, so that's why it is a concern. Apparently nobody rides the bus here. I'm not saying that you should switch clinical sites whenever your heart desires, as sometimes it is only one site like this semester. Its just that the Texas Medical Center (a big place with some pretty lofty names) is more central to everyone. The hospital next door the school was on the verge of being bought out. But its doesn't matter now because we are in the Medical Center so its all good. And unless you can't afford gas, your car is broken down, or you are scared of the road for whatever reason, driving just a little bit farther isn't going to hurt you.
Listen, I've put up with bus rides that take me 1.5 hours, sometimes more, to get to school and home. I think I know the way the bus works now and sometimes it is just not in your favor. Considering the school is at the most, a 30 min drive, its sucky. But hey, what can ya do? I'm not going to pester my mom in driving me back and forth when she has to go to work too; that's stupid. I'm also not going to rely on others for carpooling. I rather do it on my own and not having to worry about the bus schedule makes that easier. I don't believe that I should not be able to go to nursing school just because I don't have a car. That's discriminatory, especially since this is such a big city. A smaller town - maybe so. I get to school earlier than some people with cars so that is not an indicator to whether or not somebody is set for school. My grades do not suffer either. Sometimes all I have money for is school and bus trips. Cars do take up a lot of money. I just don't get why when people are at clinical for 6:45 AM and they say "Man, I'm sleepy. I woke up at 5 this morning." to which I say "Are you kidding me? I woke up at 4:00 so I could be fully ready and at the bus stop for 5:21." and then they look at me like "What??? How do you do that?" They're usually waking up at the time that I'm tapping my Q card. Wow, how easy do they have it.
Ok. I'm sorry but I have to say this and mean no offense to anyone.
This is a thread about venting about other classmates. This is not a discussion about transportation and who has a car and who doesn't and whose life sucks more. This has taken this thread way off topic. Can we please, please, please stick to the vent thread?
Thanks in advance!
You have terrible gas. Don't try to deny it. I have been stuck sitting next to you (cursed assigned seats) for a year. It's inconsiderate and gross to just let em loose. What the hell do you eat to create that ungodly smell anyway? Your olfactory attacks gain strength and momentum as the day passes. I'm surprised you've not blown yourself out of your chair at this point. Please do something about it so I can stop breathing into my coffee and swearing in my head.
To the members of my team for our pass/fail group project who aren't interested in working on it...
Please, consider this assignment as important. We have one week left to finalize it!
Your lack of interest gives the rest of us two choices... 1) do all the work and we all pass (even if we didn't all work on it) or 2) accept the F because I already did more than my share...
Not cool...
Be glad that failure isn't an option for me....

Tell him/her to go to the medical supply store and buy a Flexi-Seal and to go outside and empty it into the atmosphere during breaks.

I'm sure it's not funny when it's happening, but this made me chuckle... How do you not say something directly to this person day after day? You, dear, have the patience of a saint!
Dear soccer mom in my class:I love it how you have it all together, but that air of "I'm better than you" needs to stop. Your rolling suitcase is cute. The stories of how your children can do no wrong get boring after awhile. The way you challenge the teacher to change your grade from a 99 to a 100 because "you didn't understand the question" is irritating, boring, and stupid. The way you roll your eyes up and nod your head frenetically when you speak to someone is offensive and rude. Please stop annotating everything the teacher said with your own personal stories: I don't care how your son had a closed reduction cast on his femur and recovered faster than the kid in the hospital bed next to him. I don't care that you got awarded every scholarship you applied to. Like I said, it gets boring. And it's only the 4th week of school.
To the fresh out of high school teens:
You don't need your Blackberry AND laptop AND I-Pod out on your desk at the same time. Why? No phones or other unnecessary electronics are to be seen during class. It was on the syllabus. "What syllabus?", you ask... The one that was given to you on the first day at school. And while you're at it, if you're supposed be taking notes on your laptop, why are you on the "Vampire Diaries" message board? Please stop complaining about how you have to get rid of your nail wraps before the first day of clinical. YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS IN JUNE, WHEN WE WERE TOLD DURING ORIENTATION! Whay are you so surprised?
To the latecomers:
Why is it always the same 3 or 4 students late to class every day? Can't you get a routine down? I made it to class on time, how about you? Every time you walk in, there you are with your Coolatta or Starbucks coffee. If can include getting your morning coffee a ritual, how about getting to class on time? And enough with the Spongebob pajama bottoms. Gross.
I wonder if you have any friends in your classes lol. You are so mean but funny
You seem to hate /dislike everybody
by STUPID question I mean this..."you will be tested using a dual stethescope"
20 minutes later, about to leave.
"professor, how are you going to test us? do you listen for the apical and then i do it?"
see- STUPID QUESTION.
Another example.
"In no way can your shoes have air holes in them"
"Do you think the clinical site will care if there are air holes in my shoes?"
There is such a thing as a stupid question. And nursing students seem to ask a lot of them.
I know that many people don't like the questions classmates ask but they love their own questions. You have to know that, what you think is a good question might not be a good question for another A student, they might say back " I can't believe she asked that question ahahaha"....I don't ask many questions and when I do I don't care what people think. I don't mind people asking questions ( I am patient). I just can't stand those who text during lecture and those that bring their laptop to look up pictures.

It's just a vent thread. People don't have to justify their vents, they just want to vent. You might feel it's wrong to get frustrated for asking questions, others might say it's none of your business if someone is texting or looking at pics or whatever else. But this is a place people can vent without getting reprimanded for whatever it is that is annoying them.
