Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

To the girl who sits across from me in labs: Would you PLEASE wear some pants that cover more than half of your ample butt crack or find longer shirts to wear. I can't handle the sight of it for another 2 hours straight!

When you know we have a meeting scheduled, please try to have the majority of your portion done beforehand so we don't have to spend 5 hours talking about pointless things while you get your pictures together, and then try to pawn off your work on the rest of us!!!

So much I could say here. But Ill keep it brief.

1. Its not my problem you didnt learn anything in A&P and now everytime we start a new portion of Med Surg you need basic anatomy explained to you.

2. Its not my problem you have spent most of the class time giggling, gossiping, or looking at yourself in the mirror and cant understand why you cant pass a hesi.

3. I am sick of hearing that you "know all this" and dont have to do NCLEX questions because they dont help you anyway.

4. Is it really necessary to talk and text through an entire lecture and then need everything explained to you again?

Ok, thats enough, I feel better already.

All i want to say to my fellow RN students is "STOP acting like you know it all and everyone else knows nothing".:twocents:

Exactly!!! My opinion, no body knows anything! That is why we are in school, to learn. "Let's all look the answer up!"

And the girl in the front row, if you're going to let your thong hang out the top of your jeans, at least wear a clean one!

wow :lol2: thats the best rant ever. Sorry you have to be subject to dirty panty girl. When do you graduate? :D

Good Lord... I know everyone is just ranting and blowing off steam but I am SOOOOOOOO happy I don't know anyone in my nursing program that are like the people posting on this board. Just sayin'

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I vent here so I can be polite, civil and professional in my interactions with the classmates I'm not crazy about. The classmates I complain about are the ones who are rude and disrespectful to the professors and other students and who are constantly negative. Getting it off my chest allows me to continue being a happy, friendly, helpful and supportive classmate to the other folks in my program.

"No, I don't remember what I put for question 15 on the exam. I don't have photographic memory. Could you maybe give me a little hint as to the content of the question?"

"Oh. My. God. Did you really just annouce your STD symptoms to the entire class? :barf02: TMI! I never thought I would wish so much that you were just going to tell us another installment in the saga of Aunt Martha's gout."

You must be in my class. :lol2:

Woooooow! This thread has been very entertaining and also very useful to read! I'm starting nursing school next month and wanted to make sure what *NOT* to do.

Is cheating really SO common in nursing school? That really worries me! :uhoh3: So, moral dilemma...do you report these people or just let karma take its place?

Also, it seems like it's pretty common for people to ask to copy study guides, homework, etc. What is a polite way to say no to them?

Hi hopeful,

I'd have to say that in my experience that sort of thing is the exception rather than the norm. I've never had anyone ask to copy my work, but I'm happy to help those who ask, because it's a two-way thing- those same people have been able to help me out as well. Having said that, there are some that REALLY drive you nuts, but it's pretty rare to be with the same class members throughout all of your studies.

I wish you well with your studies, and don't be too worried- I've found the majority of my fellow students to be wonderful people and great friends.

Please do NOT eat potato chips in lecture!!!!!!!! It drives me insane.

Don't ask me what I get on a test just so you can feel better about yours and then patronize me w/ your sympathy.

Don't offer to "help me." It's insulting.

Don't come late to class b/c it disrupts the class and makes me think less of you as a future nurse.

BRING KLEENEX!!!!!!!! Don't just sniff through and exam or I may hurt you!

Turn your freakin' phone off vibrate! I can hear it during tests.

Don't get pissy over pop quizzes when you should have been doing the work all along, or especially when they warn us one is coming.

Have a better attitude and just maybe you will do better on the next test.

I would say, STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT INSTUCTORS. Some students that I know only complain just to get attention from other students. Not kidding, same thing everyday we met in class. I also know some girls who are doing horrible in all their classes and they are blaming the instructors. Can't stand people who make a scene for .5 points in the middle of the class and they already have 100% in class. Okay, if points matter that much to you, then talk to her after class. I had 99% and 100% in class,in my final assignment the instructor took 2 off because she didn't see my values in the paper ( but I had them at the end of the assignment) but I didn't make a big deal...I was still getting an A. When grades ate posted it doesn't say 100% A..or 95 % A...96 % A. This happened at the end of the semester and we did not have any more tests or assignments.
