The waiting game STINKS

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Okay..I am officially in freaking out mode now. I took my NCLEX in California on May 9th, just a few days after I graduated. As of this morning, I still have no results. I phoned the BRN yesterday, and they told me they didn't have my transcripts yet.

I just was looking on the site today and discovered that four of my classmates, three of whom took the test May 31st, have results up. :angryfire I am happy for my friend who passed, but it's really rather bittersweet.

My IPN still shows online so that's a good thing, but I find this so very unfair. I am guessing that the BRN evaluators split the alphabet, which would make sense because the four people whose names are showing have last names beginning with M or N. Unfortunately, I am a G. I guess it's just a matter of which evaluator you get.

I have never in my life had to go through this kind of stress, and it just stinks. At this point, I don't even care if I passed or failed..I just want to know the results. It seems cruel to make people wait like this, especially when others are getting results in three days.

UGH!

Jaimee :crying2: :o :angryfire

Hang in there Jaimee. When were your transcripts sent?

This is one problem in CA. They permitted you as well as others to take the exam before they had your final transcripts from your school. Something that I personally do not agree with. And they do not let you get early reults from Pearson-Vue.

I would check with your school to make sure that your transcripts were sent and when.

We had to wait months for our results, so think of what the stress was like back then............

I'm right there with you ... took the test on May 27th and overnighted my transcripts when I got back home on June 1st (they weren't ready before then due to some teachers in other classes turning grades in late). So, technically, they DO have my transcripts but they haven't processed them. It is painful to wait and my husband is about to either divorce me or have me committed!!!

California BON is driving me crazy with this waiting game ... especially when they know the darn results!!! As a previous poster requested, write the BON and ask them to institute the same procedures as other states where unofficial results can be received from PearsonVue within 48 hours. It might not do us any good but we will be helping those students who are coming after us!

I'm cleaning my house today trying to keep my mind off of it. Since now it'll be Tuesday before new names and license numbers are posted. And, yes, I am obsessive and I know that the last license number granted was 658448 ... I check everyday and it looks like they issue about 50 per day. So we may have a ways to go ....

Hang in there Jaimee. When were your transcripts sent?

They were mailed May 18th. Obviously, they arrived because several of my classmates have their results online.

The thing that really gripes me is that when you call, you aren't allowed to speak directly to your evaluator. You have to leave a message and then hope they get back to you. Mine hasn't, of course.

I just don't know if maybe something strange happened and my transcripts got left behind, which would be about right for my luck lately.

But, I do believe it's just a matter of the evaluator taking care of everything. Several of my friends took the test this past week. The only ones whose results are showing are those with the last names starting with M and N. My guess is they just have an on-the-ball evaluator who got things taken care of quickly.

I would have stressed if I had waited to take the test so I am glad I got it over with early. It just seems unfair that some folks have only had to wait for three days to get results, and Monday will be four weeks for me. Oh well..what can ya do, except continue to stress like crazy and run everyone out of your house??!!?? :rotfl: :coollook:

((((Jaimee)))) What a stressful thing! I can imagine it's hard to get your mind on anything else. Sorry I have no advice though, but I wish you all the best.

I had to send my transcripts in before they're even allowing me to sit for the test, so I agree that just seems messed up the way they do it, causing the students to wait longer.

I hope you find out soon!

I agree with the above. I had to wait 3 monthes for results and the test was a two day ordeal. They also would have never let us test without having transcripts.

Good luck and hang in there.

I live in Mississipp which does not allow early results on the pearson website, so how long does it take to get results back and how do you get them? I am a little confused. Can someone clarify?

thanks Seren

finally..results!!! i passed. i called the brn yesterday and dealt with yet another sweetheart of a person :chuckle who was trying to explain to me about the two week waiting period for transcripts to arrive. after repeating myself 15 times about the date they were sent, she finally got the picture and said "oh..yeah..that has been a while, huh?"

i was put through to an evaluator, who was also none to eager to hear from me. she told me it would take a while to look for my stuff, and she just set the phone down on her desk instead of putting it on hold. i was able to hear all the lovely comments she was making about how she was sick of "babying" us because we have no patience. anyway, after about 15 minutes of being on pseudo-hold, i heard her say "here it is..i'm gonna make someone happy today." i had no clue if this was a smart alec comment and got a little freaked out. she told me that she had my transcript and that it had accidently been put into the wrong area, which was why my results hadn't been released yet. she then told me i would get my results in 7-10 days in the mail. when i asked if there was any way i could find out if i passed, she was nice enough to tell me that only passing candidates see their name on the website so to look there today.

when i got up this morning, my husband had printed out the paper showing my name and license number.

i am so glad that i am done with this mess. hopefully my future contact with the california brn will be very minimal!!
