I"m sure that I will recieve a lot of negative comments from so many nurses. But I'm tired of this Stethoscope debackle. The View hosts are both ignorant and very opinionated, but one comment does not mean that they should be cancelled. I have been hit and cursed and spat on but I continue to do my job everyday. I still cant get over how many people are so upset and offended over her ignorant comment, when all of us have dealt with so much worse in the past.
As a current Cath/EP Lab nurse and previous ED nurse, I have dealt with so much worse from entitled brats to drunk ladies. I've heard it and seen it all. I have never seen a single episode of The View but I can say that I will not stand for the push to cancel them. We can not be that easily offended to cancel a television show over a stupid comment then go to work and have a drunk man throw a punch at me or have a little lady call me sexy.
I'm over the stethoscope.
I've seen others say that we should consider the source. Yes, we should.
Don't forget that these women are paid to be rude, confrontational and argumentative. It's how they get ratings and viewers.
They appeal to the lowest common denominator-people who feel that they have no power, and see four women who say what they want, shout down anyone who doesn't agree with them, and generally act like they have the biggest gonads in town.
Nurses have risen up and united (for probably a brief time) over some comments that I sincerely doubt were as "off the cuff" as they seemed. I just think they underestimated the repercussions of p***ing off 3 million potential or actual viewers, and were forced to do an Olympic Backpedal (predictably forced and insincere).
I would prefer that my sister and brother Nurses spend their time uniting over the things that really matter-workload, staffing, safety, etc. We also need to remember that we are professionals, and project that attitude in our daily lives.
But that doesn't mean we can't have fun while we're doing it...

Not to mention Michelle Collin's tweets after the show. Let's all prescribe ourselves some Valium and chill. (That was sarcasm)
