The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club: A&P 2

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all! Just thought I'd go ahead and start this. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas (or whatever you celebrate!) I'm very much enjoying my family time right now.

Spring semester starts January 5th for me, and I'll be taking A&P 2 and College Algebra. Hope to see lots of you posting here like last semester :)

I must say, as the weeks go on, I'm glad I deferred the rest of my nursing courses (I finished Nsg. 101 last semester) until next January. I can't imagine trying to do all of this A&P2 studying AND all the studying for Med/Surg. I did the first week of lecture in Med/Surg before I decided I couldn't do both and succeed.

The first test in Med/Surg was last week, and my friends, who are only taking that one course and are straight-A/B students, told me it was brutal! I can only imagine I'd be in tears trying to keep up with it all, 4 kids, an impending divorce, and a 2 1/2 hour commute each day. I KNOW I'd be taking some sort of anti-anxiety meds.

I did get a letter today from the nursing chair at my school, saying that I definitely have a spot next January to continue on.

Now just to finish up all these science courses!

Yay for that letter :) I agree about deferring the nursing classes - I could not imagine doing it together either. No way!

We just had our first test! I am PUMPED!!! I feel like I did really well. It's nice to see all that studying on Friday and Saturday nights paying off!!!:)

good for you! :balloons: i wish i felt that way about the one i took yesterday - and i did study! our instructor has a reputation for being a :angryfire ...well, you know. she tested us on things that we didn't cover in class - which we expected; however, anatomy is easy enough to understand without direction, but for me physiology is another story. i can read it 5 times and it still won't make sense until someone explains it from a different angle. there were several physiology questions that we didn't even touch on in class. oh well....i'll quit whining. we begin dissection on the digestive system tomorrow...should be interesting.

everyone keep up the great work! good luck on your test today scmomof3!!

oh yes, i've been there- the questions that pop out of nowhere that you didn't see coming. i understand your frustration- there's nothing like studying your tail off but still see questions on the test that you've never heard of.

Studytobeanurse, I'm right there with you on those evil "out of nowhere" questions. We had our first lec. exam last week on endocrine and reproductive. IT WAS SO HARD !!! The teacher first off gave us not even a clue about what was going to be covered on the test and then asked all kind of questions on the test that she didn't even explain in class. I made a low B which is a very low grade for me but I guess I can't complain that much b/c that test was really hard !! Now on to blood and respiratory this week.

Hello all! I am new to this site, and I wanted to get in on the discussion. I, too, am taking A&P II this semester. I have an awesome teacher that makes it really interesting, although, anything to do with the human body (or a cat! lol) interests me. Are you all dissecting a cat? It really is fun for me. Am I crazy? :uhoh3:

You are not crazy! We are dissecting fetal pigs. At first I thought I would never be able to do it. However, once someone else cut in to it and opened up the chest cavity - I was transfixed! I think it is totally amazing! My group has the only male - we named him Eugene.

I actually had a dream (nightmare) that we went to finish dissecting and Eugene was all covered in mold and was just plain nasty! :chuckle

Welcome to the board - I'm new, too. Look forward to hearing from you!

Everyone getting a lot of studying done this weekend?:chuckle

Everyone getting a lot of studying done this weekend?:chuckle

I've got my first A&P2 exam tomorrow, on endocrine and blood. I've been studying on and off all weekend, taking small breaks (like for Allnurses!), but this stuff is just not sinking in! We even have the "luxury" of having the 4 essay questions already, so we can do up our answers and memorize them. I've spent so much time on that, that I've neglected other aspects.

I'll be lucky to even PASS this thing. We do get the other luxury (I guess my class isn't that bad!) of getting our lowest grade thrown out (except for the final. So only 3 exams count plus the final, instead of 4 exams).

I think this may be my "throw away" exam!! :uhoh3:

Specializes in Hey I'm now an RN!!.

My first exam is tomorrow, on reproductive systems. I have to say I am nervous. I feel so disorganized...:sofahider

Looks like it will be a long night.

Good Luck to you test takers tomorrow!!!
