Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.
If someone asks a question that seems legitimate I like to answer it if I can. What annoys me is when someone doesn't even look something up at all. There's a search function for a reason (AN has a great search function :) ).
I'm always hesitant to post questions and so on if there's any way to find the answer on my own. I never want to impose or be lazy.
No, you can't be a nurse if you (. . . ) are too shy to talk to people
That was so me when I started my LPN program, but I suffered through and forced myself to do at least the necessary talking. Being a nurse has made me much more assertive (aggressive even?). Now I'm a mouthy son of a gun RN.
And then if you take the bait (and the time) and decide to help the poor sap, s/he stops posting altogether. Your thoughtful response becomes the last one in the thread!
Yes!
I have taken the time to give some advice.
As we know, this sometimes means a good amount of time weighing our words, double checking for accuracy and editing.
I hesitate to answer because the student disappears.
Now, I know they may not be able to return to AN because of school demands, but that can't be the case every time.
I was getting a complex, too!
I dubbed myself, "The Thread Killer"!
Just scanned the thread so my apologies it it's a repeat but:
1) I just missed passing by 3 points, and they won't let me slide... how UNFAIR.
2) I want to be a CRNA... how can I do that without having to actually do nursing?
3) I'm not doing well in nursing school... I think more like a doctor... probably I'll just go to med school.
4) It's harder to become a nurse than it is to become a doctor.
