Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.

OK. Well that was a short trip. I couldn't handle much of the criminal forum. I guess the weirdest thing about that forum is how casual everyone is about this stuff.Especially the one who got her LPN (RN?) license, got wasted, and then drove her car into a house....and she did clarify for the readers that yes, she literally drove her car into the inside of a house. She didn't seem to be all that concerned about it, other than how was it going to affect her ability to get a nursing job.Everyone seemed to take it all in stride.Oh well. I'd be interested to know if cats can get dementia. And, if they steal my food, scratch up the upholstery, and pee on my floor can they still go to nursing school?

And if they graduate, can they get their DREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAM job?

Just saw a post from a person who was wondering if nursing was for them...Because they can't handle constructive critism.Now...How does one try to answer that if they don't handle constructive critism??
Mooohoohahaha, this brought back a fave memory from clinicals. An RN program did clinicals on the same floor as our LPN program (different school). I'm NOT hatin here, but a lot of the girls in that RN program had the snotty attitudes that have been discussed on this thread. They would literally come in and sit at the desk and put on make-up on clinical mornings. Well, our instructors warned us, not that we needed it, about how our lives would be in mortal danger if we ever dared pull some mess like that. Just the whole attitude they had going on. So one day, one of the Rn students had a patient with diarrhea, and she actually tried to order a couple of our LPN students to clean it up. She said nobody had ever made her touch somethin all grody like that, and since she was going to be an RN she wouldn't ever really have to, and she had some important paperwork she needed to work on, so if we would just get that for her she'd really appreciate it. And then our instructor walked up and the Apocalypse began.
LOL...had the same thing!

Did she blame the DUI on all the stress she was under for sitting the NCLEX?

With a picture of a fomite underneath. Maybe even a fomite wearing sweatpants...
Holding a bear and dancing.
(I meant to type "holding a bEEr," but I left the typo because I think I like it better.)
Okay, my b**** cap is off! Back to normal now! It helps that I just opened a beer.
Strangely, I bet you're not going to drive....

Not just casual, SUPPORTIVE. People seem to think it's strange that there are people who get through life without multiple arrests.

It depends, is it their DREEEEAAAAMMMMMM?
Nursing IS for her. I hope she keeps her account open for when she gets a nursing job so she can tell us all how she's being bullied.

Try destructive encouragement. Something like, "Go for it, you dumb cluck!"
Or
"Well, I don't think you'll actually kill the patient, so you could probably take a stab at this"

Destructive encouragement!! I LOVE it!!!!
I was going to answer the query with something more esoteric ....as in, how does one give constructive criticism to one who is asking for constructive criticism but doesn't want to hear constructive criticism.....um....just confused myself!!
Sort of like the old...."if a tree falls in the forest....."
(now that I think about it, the place I work doles out Destructive Encouragement on a daily basis!)

Yup, dogs get dementia. They even have mini-mentals out of 10. Canine Cognitive Disorder.
They even have prescription drugs to help hold it back like Aricept.
Canine Cognitive Dysfunction | Canine Dementia | Doggie Alzheimer's
So there probably is a Feline version.
The only reason I remembe this stuff is, one of our older dogs scored 1/10 on the mini-mental. I'd seen the ad in a magazine and it was cool. The pages faced each other and there was a list of questions about "older family members" . When you looked across for the answers, the family dog was sitting there looking confused. And yes, if you know your dog/cat, you know their facial expression.

Well I just woke up a little while ago and I had the most bizarre and unpleasant dream that my house was infested with bugs. I woke up really shaken, wondering why I would dream something like that and kind of worried that my house actually WAS infested and maybe my subconscious was trying to tell me something.
Then I clicked on this discussion and started reading about fomites and everything clicked into place. OOOHHHHHHHhhhhhhh.
