The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Well.. on another note.. I went and picked up my books and bought my shoes and ordered my scrubs today. Nearly $1500 later... I've added 16 new text books and more debt to my household! LOL... But, it did remind me... regardless of what happens with HRSA, I am blessed and thrilled to have made it this far! I have a two week break before my program starts. There were a few people in my Patho class that were supposed to be starting this fall that will not be able to. For some of them, this semester was at least a second attempt. My heart goes out to them, but let this be a reminder, that not everyone makes it this far.... we have worked hard, and a lot of us have made significant sacrifices to get here. Be proud!
This is the begining of the rest of our lives! Ten years from now, it won't make much of a difference if we ever heard from HRSA. Nursing is a calling that requires dedication and sacrifice.
i also have cl for an analyst and mine was not pulled yet either, i have checked both experian and equifax. i wonder.....
on another note, i have learned a new trick to getting multiple pulls for free without adding hard inquiries to your report. well i suppose it;s not really a trick, it's a law. the fcra says that not only is everyone eligible for a free annual report but people in certain categories are also allowed to get reports for free at anytime. there is a whole list of reasons why you might qualify for them. here are a few as copied from the web.
"under federal law, you’re entitled to a free report if a company takes adverse action against you, such as denying your application for credit, insurance, or employment, and you ask for your report within 60 days of receiving notice of the action. the notice will give you the name, address, and phone number of the consumer reporting company. you’re also entitled to one free report a year if you’re unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days; if you’re on welfare; or if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, including identity theft. otherwise, a consumer reporting company may charge you up to $10.50 for another copy of your report within a
12-month period."
there you have it, here is an easy way to keep tabs on the situation for free as long as you fit into one of the above categories. you heard it here folks!
soooooo, i just received a call from some1 at hrsa, asking if i was still interested in the nursing scholarship program.
i told her i faxed over all my documents on the 19th of july and that i faxed them to jjiii. she wanted to know what time i faxed over the documents. thank god i have my fax confirm and i also wrote the time i faxed it on my cover letter.
so it looks like they are trying to get the finishing touches together and they also didnt receive some docments. this is the main reason why i kept calling and emailing jjiii to see if he received it, with no luck!
Off the subject....anyone check out the Nursing News on the right hand side of this page...specifically the Man Eaten By Maggots?? Wow.
Yeah I saw that. I don't know what's more gross.....being eaten by maggots or sleeping in the bed with the guy being eaten by maggots. Ewww. Sad story though. His partner should have taken better care of him or hired someone who could.
i just rec'd another call from hrsa, come to find out there was a mixup because of where i go to school is different from where i live. i live in ny and the analyst is jjiii, but i go to school in nj, and the analyst is kh. so i was told to refax the documents asap, which i did.
the analyst are assigned based on where you go to school.

hey, just out of curiosity, what area code are they calling from?
(i screen my calls religiously thanks to some company selling my cell number to telemarketers... but i don't wanna miss anything important.)
