The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

soooooo, i just received a call from some1 at hrsa, asking if i was still interested in the nursing scholarship program.i told her i faxed over all my documents on the 19th of july and that i faxed them to jjiii. she wanted to know what time i faxed over the documents. thank god i have my fax confirm and i also wrote the time i faxed it on my cover letter.
so it looks like they are trying to get the finishing touches together and they also didnt receive some docments. this is the main reason why i kept calling and emailing jjiii to see if he received it, with no luck!
i am also from ny but my school is in miami. do you think he is still my analyst? i spoke to him and he had my information and he said that i was "fine".
I have been reading this post for a while, I just wanted to say that I spoke with a woman who works at the office where they decide who will get the scholarship (not the call center or my state representative). She was very nice, and said that they have had about 750 applicant this year and that 500 WILL get the award. She also said that after people qualify with the 0 EFC, every applicant gets scored. Starting with GPA, then EACH essay gets a score and finally a score from the faculty letter. So I know people are freaking out because they think everyone should get the award just because they have a zero EFC. However, the essays, GPA, as well as faculty recommendations have a LOT to do with who gets the award and who does not. I hope this helps some people, I know I feel better knowing that they look at the whole picture. Also, they said that we will NOT be getting any moneys until OCTOBER. However, they will give us an award letter that we can give to the financial aid office stating that our tuition will be paid in october. So, I would contact your financial aid office and see how your school works as far as that goes. She also said that we WILL know by the 24th of Aug. Good luck to you all and I hope this helps. :)
I am in South Texas. So I wonder how many of those 750 applicants didn't make it because of incomplete apps...or if that is 750 applicants that are being considered for 500 scholarships. I am curious to know why only 1 analyst has done credit checks...everyone or at least everyone that I have seen had their credit checked has been from the same analyst. So they wont even pay our tuition until October. That stinks guess if I do get refunded the Pell it wont be until October. There is no way at least I don't think they will refund me that w/o having their bill paid for first.
That is 750 applicants that are finalist. These are the ones being scored for the awards. I also asked about the credit checks and she said that everyone will get one, some analysts dont have as many as others do so some have already done it and most have not yet. Yes, it does suck about not getting the money until october. BUT better Oct than never! I dont think they will either, with the pell. I talked to financial aid counselor and she said that they will bill them what was already paid (with my pell) and then give the money to me. I would definatly go and talk to someone and let them know what is going on. Im sure they will work with you if you give them a heads up :)
