The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I've received all the emails and email recalls. I called my analyst this morning (MC), and she told me I wasn't on her list, but that she is indeed the rep for my state. Not a good feeling!

did anyone get this on their credit report?

DHHS PHS HRSA BHPR* inquiry

I hope it means something on my report!

What day did they pull your credit report and who is your anaylst??? It seems like your credit was pulled fairly early??

I'm bummed my credit hasn't been checked! I looked yesterday...twice! I did the free annual thing from both experian and equifax. How lame was that??? I wasted them!!! Oh well. Lol I checked once in the morning and then in the evening after more ppl had theirs checked.

Just google any credit monitoring company that's what I did. I first checked with freecreditscore.com then identity guard and now freescore. It's all free if you cancel within your trial period...

That's strange. Did you send in all your documents?

I use Triple Alert through experian. It was free the first month, then it's like five bucks a month. It monitors all three bureaus.

I also use Triple Alert and I rec'd the email alert about an inquiry on my credit report, the next day.

Yep. I sent them all in. I was actually calling MC to make sure she'd received them. MC had called another person in my program to ask for missing documents. I got John Vinoo's email telling my school I was a finalist, so I suppose I'm on somebody's list. I can't help but over-analyze it. What sort of list is MC talking about? A list of finalists? A list of people with missing documents? Am I an alternate? Is it time to start thinking about plan B? My credit has not been checked. It's all very strange.

Yeah I know. I would be freaking out right about now. Just keep monitoring that credit. My forms weren't received for some reason so I had to resend them on the 3rd and my credit was checked yesterday. So just try to be patient. Good luck and hang in there.

Hi. I am new here. Just finished my pre-reqs and am anxious about starting Nursing I in a couple of weeks. I have been reading the postings and I enjoy the humor and words of support. I too have applied for the nursing scholarship and am awaiting my 2nd reply. I was told that I was chosen for final review and had to send in bank info. I read that some people have been able to see where their credit has been checked. So I quickly signed up with Experian but have not seen anything yet. I live in PA near Pittsburgh. Anyone else out there from PA? :o

I think I will wait to get a trial until someone with analyst CL has their credit checked.
