The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I have CL and no inquiries that I know of.

Instead of paying for another credit report, if you have already used the free annual one that you get you can always apply for a loan that you know you wont get. In that case, when you are denied they must offer you a free copy of your credit report.

I would highly advise not doing this - hard inquiries are a negative against your credit score. It's not worth dropping your score just to see if anyone's pulled your credit.

(Also, CL here and no credit pulls, at least not on Experian - I'm not willing to pay for a three-bureau report, so I can only see what my Experian monitoring tells me.)

I have MC and my credit was pulled through experian yesterday

I have KH and no inquiries were pulled as of today.

On July 19th emails were sent out saying we were either finalists or alternates and asked us for to fill out and fax back a few forms and to complete online banking information. That email said decisions would be made by July 30th. Three days later, another email was sent out asking everyone to stop calling to verify if our information was received and that decisions will be made by Aug 23rd. The next day, we received an "accidental" email asking for a form to be filled out. This email was meant for our school representatives, not us.

There is a possibility that these emails went to your spam box and were deleted. Also, everyone who is eligible is in the running until they get either an acceptance or denial email. Perhaps they didn't send you anything at first, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't. People may turn down the scholarship for whatever reason, which is why they give extra time to send out the denials - they say if accepted people will be notified by Aug 23rd, while those who aren't accepted will be notified by Sept 30th.

Like Stucky asked, was your EFC 0? You pretty much have to be in the first funding group to get the scholarship. Although, there was one person on here who was in the second funding group who got the first email.
