The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
How to Apply for a Scholarship
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
Scholarship requirements:
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
Nurse Practitioner
Certified Nurse-Midwife
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
Scholarship award covers:
Tuition and Eligible Fees
A monthly stipend for living expenses
An annual other reasonable costs payment

JoeNurse2, I don't believe there is such an email that says "we got the scholarship" I think at this point we just check our mail and wait for the official letter. I've heard 2 different dates that we should get that letter by....Aug 23 and Sept 30. If I don't get it by Aug 30th, it won't matter if I get the scholarship or not because that is when my school starts and won't be able to go without it. $15K a semester....yikes. I'll be soo bummed out if I get the scholarship and don't find out in time. Whatever is meant to be, will be. Just got to keep positive thoughts! Good luck to all!!!!!!!
No and now HRSA is not answering the phone and I did not get that return phone call in 72 hours. I'll give it another try tomorrow but I can tell you that I won't be deleting my spam box again any time soon. Thanks for thinking of me.
Keep trying and I would also send JV an email....he seems to be the only one responding to us. Those need to be faxed in by July 30 as I'm sure your well aware. Sending good vibes your way!!!!! Can you feel em...lol
I really hope you get to go to nursing school. I know that there is a group that gives extended loans to nursing students but I would have to get the name from my director of nursing. It requires a recommendation I think from the school or something. I am sure you got the scholarship, I believe that last year everyone who got the email did get the scholarship.
Even though my financial aid office is THE SLOWEST ever to respond by email or even talk to by phone (at least an hour wait) I forwarded my email from JV. I want this scholarship SO BAD that I am willing to take useless steps to make it easier for the HRSA people.
BTW, anyone from Kentucky gotten any "you have the scholarship" emails? I haven't found a soul so far! Also, anyone who got the JV email got the "you have the scholarship" email so far? Last week it looked like most people got in on Tuesday so I am praying tomorrow is my (and the rest of us developing ulcers) day! :anbd:
Hey, I'm from KY. I recieved an email saying that I was a finalist adn that I had a few days to send in my banking info, signature form and tax form. Also if you read the forms it states that only recipients and alternates will be asked to send in the paper work. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO EMAIL STATING THAT I GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP NOR HAVE I HEARD OF SUCH AN EMAIL. That is the last I have heard of them. Question: What school do you go to?

if you get the scholarship after classes start, you should be entitled to a refund of the fees that you paid. (loan/out of pocket) so dont give up hope!
i forwarded the email to my financial aid counselor, i believe everything happens for reasons, so im doing everything i can to make sure my school sends the forms in time! i called my school yesterday and they will be submitting the forms today and will be contacting them later today to confirm it was sent.
Was there such a line in the emails "you have the scholarship"? Am I missing something? I received the banking info email and the accidental one from JV. Was there another email I don't know about?

So BSHP got the stuff sent in? I was going to call them tomorrow to confirm or if they even knew anything about it.
As far as I know yes. I sent Patrick an email and he asked me to forward the email. After I forwarded it he sent me one back and told me that he had just received a all from a man and they were going to be faxing the papers to school. He told me he would MAKE sure it got done by the 28th. He is usually pretty good about things...the only one I'd go to about my financial aid. So I am going to say yes.
