The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Has anyone received the welcome package/kit yet?

Nope and I haven't received the email that was supposed to be sent out about an online training. Someone in an earlier post said they spoke to their analyst CL which is also my analyst and she said that they weren't going out until the 20th???

There was an email about online training? I haven't received that either!

Yeah from the original award email...It says that there would be an invitation for an online webminar? It was suppose to be sent out last week right? I haven't gotten anything either.

I was wondering about the welcome kit as well and I haven't received the training email either. I was wondering if anyone knows if we can change our W-4 because my Mom's Accountant says I messed up on it?

Yes but you have to email or call your anaylst and let them know. Good luck!

so as far as the email goes, I'd say they were just late getting it out

This is from the email:

"In addition to the welcome kit, the NSP will host a welcome webinar for new scholars in mid-October. This webinar will provide an opportunity for you to meet the NSP staff and get answers to any questions you may have regarding the NSP program requirements. You will receive the webinar invitation via email within the next two weeks."

So, the webinar isn't until Mid-October, so we've got some time before it's a problem. It seems to take a little bit for them to get things sent out, so I wouldn't worry... yet :)

Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend!

So does everyone that gets this award have to have an EFC of 0?

Specializes in non-animals.

To get into the first funding group...yes you have to have an EFC of 0....and they usually don't pay any other funding groups besides the first one

So I guess (because of the extra funding I am presuming) I really am getting a scholarship after all! I wasn't sure, but I got nervous about my email and mail not working correctly (which it turns out I never got the award email for some reason but did get a scholarship) and called and she confirmed it. Better late than never!! I mentioned something about "oh I read that welcome kits will go out next week so I will just wait for that" and she laughed and was wondering how we are all staying on top of the info haha. Yay!!!!! :balloons:

I hope i get it this time. The letter still said finalists and alternates, which i don't get it since i was already being considered for it and rejected. Anyone with this same situation????
