The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

wow...it seems like they have come across some more money and are giving out additional scholarships! I just got a call to see if I was still interested in receiving one and I instantly said YES! All those who got rejection notices....there is still hope!

That's wonderful... That or maybe some people turned it down. After all of this time people may have accepted other funding. Well whatever it was. That's great to hear, I hope to see other posts like this...

I got a call too. I really hope it pans out, I don't think I can take another rejection letter. :sniff:

Everyone is talking about backpay of stipend for the months of July and August [summer session], how about summer tuition payments. Does HRSA only pay stipend for summer months and not summer tuition, I am confused because it would make sense for them to pay our summer tuition.

I Got an email that i was selected to recieve the NSP award for the 2010-2011 school year. However, i recieved a called last month regarding my actual graduation date. So i told KH that i will graduate in 2012 but come to find out that is 2013. I don't know if i should email KH about it or just leave it because i am scared they might take me off the list r she might say that i am not serious.

Please reply and tell me what you think.

I'm also wondering about this... I went to school all summer, it'd be GREAT if they back paid that tuition!!!!

i think they do pay for summer tuition, only if it is required by your school for all students.

You should be able to request additional years for the stipend...but there isn't a guarantee that you will get them. I think once your initial contract ends you will have the option to request another year and if funds allow then you will get it....or you could call your analyst and ask if can resign your contract to include that additional year. Its kinda up to you.

For the summer tuition...I believe that they will pay any tuition for classes from July 1st and on...and that if your class started before July 1st then they will prorate the days that you are in and your school can bill HRSA for that tuition. The contract is for July 2010 to June 2011, so your school should be able to just bill HRSA and then go from there.

Excellent! :)

I feel like I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the financial aid office this fall trying to sort what my college needs to bill to HRSA...... Anyone see that this might be complicated? I don't know about you guys, but my financial aid office isn't always the easiest to deal with!!:uhoh3:

Wish they would give me a "Would you still like to get your school paid for by HRSA?" phone call.

Has anyone received the welcome package/kit yet?
