The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Will this scholarship pay for my summer tuition July, 2010 since I had to pay out of pocket or will it only pay for fall 2010 tuition?

@ Elliut. I have not heard anything either. @kemsil I am not sure I read in previous post that the stipend will be received July through next year. If it was a class that is needed for nursing and the school requires that you take it in the summer they may. If you took it in the summer just because they may not. If you receive an award that should all be disclosed.

This whole process is so confusing but I am grateful just to be considered!!!!

Yup got your request...

Ok so I went to modify my account and I locked it. So I called the call center (ugh!) and the lady on the phone was kinda rude. She unlocked it and I tried to modify my info, nothing happen. So what do they mean when they say you can't modify your info when recipients are selected? Have someone already made the facebook group?

When people say they can/cannot modify their profile, are you going to the application itself or to the tab that says "Modify your Registration Profile" ?

Is it grayed out or does it simply seem to refresh? Some people have said that even though it seems to not update, if you log out and log back in, the information is changed ...

Just wondering :coollook: ... although I have no idea why - my head tells me that I know that last year there were people who were ALWAYS able to modify and still GOT it, and I won't know til I know, but I still keep looking for these breadcrumb clues :uhoh3::clown::eek:

I'm so glad to have met a bunch of people who are as obsessive about these things as I am, I really do hope a lot of us will keep in touch through Nursing School ...

I'd be happy to start the Facebook page if no one else has, may as well get away from the refreshing for a while :yeah:and I still have til next Monday before school starts ;)
