The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Yeah, I bet we are the last to know here in Cali. Thanks for the facebook page LOVEs IT!:D Okay so why did I spend my last bit of money on books and only have $10 left in the bank? Oh the life of a nursing student:uhoh3: LOL

Hahaha! Books are sooo expensive!! I think I spent about 600 dollars on books and that's because i brought them through amazon. The bookstore is offering two bundles. One that is $800+ and one is $60+. Not including a nursing kit, and a stethoscope! Not to add the 250 for parking!

Are you ready to go back to school? I am actually pretty excited.

Are you enjoying this BLAZING HOT WEATHER!!?!?! I am not!

Is that for your first semester? I'm starting my 2nd semester of actual nursing school and thankfully we only had to purchase one book, we bought so many last semester that we are using pretty much all the same books this semester. I think it could about $1100 for books/my lab kit and then another $200 for the stethoscope and other supplies I needed...luckily it was just a one time purchase! It's crazy how expensive they all are!

Yes it's my first semester of nursing school! That is crazy expensive! I was told that some of the text will cross over for the fall so that is a good thing! What kind of stethoscope did you get? 200 bucks, is PRETTY expensive! How was our first semester of nursing school? Any words of wisdom? Advice on how to survive?!

What classes are you taking this semester?

Oh yeah! The life and uniform store. I will definitely have to check that out. Thanks. I know I am melting just sitting here. Gosh, but what a weird summer we've had here in the bay area. Where do you live in the bay area?

I am pretty sure I am not getting the scholarship since the only email I received was the accidental from JV. Really stinks because today I found out that next year they are taking away all of my financial aid. I have to figure out how to pay for my last year completely out of pocket plus send my son to school all on my own. Don't know what else can fall on me at this point.

How is all your financial aid getting taken away, Are you a single mom? If so, you shouldn't be paying anything. What is your efc from the fafsa? What state are you in?

to pattylmt - I'm soooo sorry. WIsh I had more to offer than empathy. And yes, it's empathy, not sympathy, 'cause God knows I know what it's like to keep having the other shoe drop. :-(

If there is anything at all that you can think of that I could do, I'd love to try ! I have found that several of the schools in my area, even preschools seem to offer scholarships, mostly based on financial need, perhaps you could look into that. I'm grasping at straws, I'm sure you've already thought of it, just want to try something ...
