The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

to pattylmt - I'm soooo sorry. WIsh I had more to offer than empathy. And yes, it's empathy, not sympathy, 'cause God knows I know what it's like to keep having the other shoe drop. :-(

If there is anything at all that you can think of that I could do, I'd love to try ! I have found that several of the schools in my area, even preschools seem to offer scholarships, mostly based on financial need, perhaps you could look into that. I'm grasping at straws, I'm sure you've already thought of it, just want to try something ...

me too. I wish there was something i could do. maybe good things will come. :redbeathe

To everyone: I am so grateful for this forum. I was going completely insane with worry, but I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one. I hope that the scholarship uses a standardized and fair way of selecting it's recipients. Good luck to everyone! Fingers crossed that tomorrow is the day we get word. Let go and let God!

Yes it's my first semester of nursing school! That is crazy expensive! I was told that some of the text will cross over for the fall so that is a good thing! What kind of stethoscope did you get? 200 bucks, is PRETTY expensive! How was our first semester of nursing school? Any words of wisdom? Advice on how to survive?!

What classes are you taking this semester?

I have hearing loss so I had to buy one that was louder than a normal one so I bought a cardiac stethoscope that has enhanced hearing so I could hear blood pressures and heart sounds better.

My first semester was quite busy but went well. My best advice is stay organized and stay ahead on studying, especially for tests. Try to find the best way for you to organize your information for study sheets and most definitely have study groups and study buddies! And don't forget to schedule time for fun to take a break from studying, otherwise you will get way too bogged down.

This semester I have pathophysiology/pharmocology 2, maternal nursing, pediatric nursing, nursing tech 2, and nursing 2 which is focused on care of the older adult and care of older adults with chronic illness...and we have ob clinicals, peds clinicals, and an intro 3 weeks to med surg clinicals. Its gonna be a busy semester!

This whole process is insane. It would be nice if they would just send out an update e-mail when letters are sent out so we would know when to expect them instead of waiting around. This will be extremely stressful esp. if were not notified until October as they did last year

You never got the e-mail to send in other documents?

ahhh....about 800 on books so far and its just for the first 8 weeks!!!!! Oh man....I don't think the ORC jives well with accelerated programs! Oh well....I don't care so much about the stipend and everything...even if I just got them to pay PART of the tuition, I would be completely grateful!

I am pretty sure I am not getting the scholarship since the only email I received was the accidental from JV. Really stinks because today I found out that next year they are taking away all of my financial aid. I have to figure out how to pay for my last year completely out of pocket plus send my son to school all on my own. Don't know what else can fall on me at this point.

You dont know yet.... None of us do... Somthing will help u through... Just focus on one semester at a time...Worry about the next one when it gets there....

Oh yeah! The life and uniform store. I will definitely have to check that out. Thanks. I know I am melting just sitting here. Gosh, but what a weird summer we've had here in the bay area. Where do you live in the bay area?

I know one day it's foggy and the next it's super hot. Gotta love the bay area! I live in Emeryville and usually go running down by the water but it is still to darn hot at 9 pm. Still nothing about the scholarship. Guess we wait some more...

And for all those of us that feel like hope is lost " it ain't over tell it's over". No matter how you get to your end goal being a nurse, at least you got there! Sending out good vibes to you all.

It is very strange and curious that more than one of you guys here have the same analyst but I have not heard or read of another person with JJ 3rd on this forum other than me. Very strange.

Hey guys, hows everyone holding up? Glad to hear that people are trying to focus on keeping the mind busy. I know how tough that is. I am in finals week of my 4th quarter. My Med Surg final is tomorrow. AAAAhhhh. So hard to concentrate. :)

I am going into my 5th quarter, with a little over a year left of nursing school. Its crunch time. Love the facebook page, its nice to finally put a face to the name ladies and gents. Keep your hopes high and give it to God. Thats about all we can do.

Checked my mailbox today... Empty. :( Best wishes for sanity everyone.

I have KH Joe... There is a few people on here that have JJ 3rd, I remember seeing the posts. I think they may just have been silent for awhile...

Many of you seem to have CL.
