The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I have CL...she has responded to my emails and returned a phone call. She is very short and almost seems like she has no personality but she did respond to me.

it says something about 15 days...but someone yesterday posted who has received the scholarship and said they get the stipend for every month

hrsa recognizes the school year as july 1 - june 30. a monthly stipend will be given every month of your 1 year contract (or 2 year contract)....there will be a lump sum payment in october that will be retroactive to july 1.

see below..you can find this information on the hrsa frequently asked questions.

payment information

the first payment for new awardees will be made no later than october 7, 2010 and will include stipend payments retroactive to july 1 and the one-time payment for other reasonable costs.

I am going crazy. I haven't checked my credit since July and ConnieF, my analyst won't answer calls. Does anyone else have her so I know I am not alone :bluecry1:

I have Connie F for my analyst. I emailed her on Tuesday to ask about what the credit check checks for exactly and she emailed me back about an hour later saying that my credit check came back good, I had my credit checked on Experian on 8/5/10.

Well my "analyst" said that we will know beginning Aug 24th. I honestly think that if my credit is not checked today or tomorrow, this reduces the chances of me getting this scholarship. There are only 9 business days left before the 24th.

Joe, I just called the same lady I talked to the last time, and she said that KH is pulling credit checks in alphabetical order for the state. She has 15 states she is an analyst for so I would not freak out yet. I am Tn and have not had mine pulled yet either...

Anyone from TX had their credit pulled yet?

Anyone from TX had their credit pulled yet?

Yes I had mine pulled yesterday

Yes I had mine pulled yesterday

Can I ask what your last name starts with?

Yes I had mine pulled yesterday

Me too...I have CL and credit was pulled on the 5th of August...

So i just received a phone call from KH. She just wanted to confirm my graduation date. Honestly, i have no idea what this means, but i feel a lil better hearing SOMETHING from her! Keeping my fingers crossed.

ME TOO! Lol...after hearing the voicemail and calling her back...I almost asked for "KH" instead of her real name! Blonde moment...

I REALLY wanted to ask about my "chances" or how my application was looking...but I refrained, thinking that sounded kind of juvenile

But I agree- it seems good to have some kind of contact from them! They wouldn't be verifying things if they weren't seriously looking at us!

So has anyone received calls from CL? lol
