The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I am beginning to think that my tuition is too high for them. I am in an accelerated program that I will finish in one year and the total scholarship that I will need to get to pay for tuition, books, uniforms and the stipend comes up to 59,500 dollars for the 12 months of my BSN. If you think about it they can award 5 or 6 students with that money instead of paying for me. :(

I dont think that's the case. My tuition is 36K a year + fees + health insurance = almost 40K a year and that's not counting the stipend and ORC. I've received all emails. My analyst has been verifying information w/ my school and my credit was also checked. I hope we aren't eliminated because our tuition is so high.

And I don't think you get 12 months worth of the stipend. I either read somewhere or someone wrote somewhere that you have to be in school for at least 15 days out of that month in order to get a stipend for that month. Unless i'm missing something!

It says something about 15 days...but someone yesterday posted who has received the scholarship and said they get the stipend for every month

Anyone have the thread for last year? I can't find it in search

I also received a call from JV about my tuition and expenses.

I am going crazy. I haven't checked my credit since July and ConnieF, my analyst won't answer calls. Does anyone else have her so I know I am not alone :bluecry1:

Does CL respond to calls and emails? I think I want to try and call her regarding my case. Any help from those of you with CL? Thank you.

I wish...I have emailed her three times and called her three times and she has never gotten back to me. Someone else that has her said they did get through to her so it never hurts to try...let us know how it goes...

You guys are giving up too soon. There is plenty of time left and we need to give the analyst time to do their job. We know that they have been working on weekends and they are also calling people to see if they are still interested. (I received a call last week) You guys are becoming too depressing and its making me not want to come here and read anymore. Stop being so negative, all is not over and lost.

I could definately use this scholarship but if I dont give it, my life will still go on and I will still be in nursing school. Please think positive people and from previous history we know HRSA doesnt keep deadlines. Please dont give up....I know Im not, I want this and will get this!!

Prayer and patience!

She picked up when I called around 9am about a week after they sent the initial emails. She was a little short but she answered my question just fine. But she never responded to an email I sent with the same question or a VM so best bet is to try and get her early in the day.

Hey everyone,

I was reading the info regarding last years awards and the people on there stated that from the time they got an email, they had no correspondence between being awarded. They received a letter in the mail regarding the award. It shows that they were receiving emails about the 5th of September and award letters around the 15th of October or so...it also seems that from what I was reading, everyone that got an email seemed to get an award...God willing...that will be the case with us...

Keep the faith!

:D

So i just received a phone call from KH. She just wanted to confirm my graduation date. Honestly, i have no idea what this means, but i feel a lil better hearing SOMETHING from her! Keeping my fingers crossed.
