Sue, you are an angel. I cannot imagine ever being able to be as deliberate and compassionate.
I don't have any answers - but, fear not and keep on, keeping on. Folks in high places - always know the score. Some families are just bat$%*^ crazy. Bless all of you - I would not last ONE DAY.

what a bunch of looney toons.. i wouldn't even know where to start.. maybe you can encourge moving the poor lady to a different home if they don't like the care there...
This is what I was going to say. You should have all staff make the hint each and every time these people start with their bogus complaints. Sooner or later they will probably take the suggestion and go with it.
The NY Ombudsman site doesn't even address facilities, except in the context of protecting residents from them.
We are required to have their number posted in the facility. Check around tomorrow, you may have the number posted to.
When you call, remember they ARE NOT part of the survey team. Their entire job is to be the middle man and the voice of reason. From my experience, they tend to side with whom ever is being reasonable. Just call and explain your concerns and ask for their help with guidance for handling the situation.
It's posted. Seriously, that ain't a call I'd make. If a higher-up agrees that it's a plan, okay. Not me. Nope. Nuh-uh. If they didn't agree with it I'd get to see how high I bounce when my butt hits the pavement.
Yep, I get where you're coming from.. but you may want to suggest it to them. They may even think you're a hero for having such a great idea! Good luck
I would not communicate with this family via e-mail. You do not want to leave a paper trail. The ombudsman is a great idea.
I think there should be a paper trail to document the conversations you've had with these people. If you keep copies then no one will be able to say you said thus and such because what you said will be there on paper. I keep files of all these sorts of things...with families, with doctors, and with employees. I save them all in a 'notes to self' file on my computer.
