The election 2024 Thread

Published

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

Perhaps they are setting up grounds for a lawsuit challenging the results of the election if Trump loses?

We can expect that there will be all manner of chaos including legal challenges and not so legal challenges of results should Trump lose again.  He and his sychophants already refuse to say that they will accept election results.

Has anyone watched this?

Surely you jest...

I posted the two WORST examples of election worker harassment.

Issue started from the top: President Trump and some political leaders.

2022:  Pa. has seen unusual threat levels against poll workers: FBI

Brennan Center for Justice Report: Election Officials Under Attack

They offer many solutions to reduce/eliminate  election worker abuse.

Exactly although rare, these 2 threats did matter.  Same with the few occurrence of voter fraud.  Thanks for providing my point...

Our city is having a tough time scrounging up Republican poll workers.  Do they know something that we don't or do they just not care?  Or do they believe that if they are no shows, the election will be cancelled?  Do they want to avoid abuse by their own party members who might not know they are registered Republicans? It's hard to fathom why we can't get them.  The county has plenty of Republicans.

I'm soooo sure this is happening

Harris will concede her loss and certify the EC vote on January 6th 2025. You know, the normal thing.  Are you speculating that some other process will be encouraged or followed?

Nuns kick off a cross-country bus tour in Philly to steer Catholics from being single-issue voters

A get-out-the-vote rally organized by the Nuns On The Bus advocacy group with a focus on Catholic voters becoming multi-issue and not single-issue voters.

...“The Catholic vote is important. All the issues are connected,” said Mary DiVito, a lifelong Philadelphian and volunteer for NETWORK Advocates for Catholic Social Justice, the Washington-based advocacy group that organizes NOTB.

NOTB is urging voters to challenge the country's current polarization by voting for the common good, which will mean taking issues such as health care, immigration, childcare, treatment of the LGBTQ community, and climate change into consideration....

From its launch in Philadelphia, where 25% of the population identifies as Catholic, the bus will take 15 Catholic sisters and 15 multifaith and secular partners to 20 cities in 11 states before ending Oct. 18 in San Francisco. At each event, NOTB is distributing a "guiding document" called the Equally Sacred Checklist alongside a voting day action plan. Their basic message: Democracy and freedom are in peril, and voting is not only a sacred right but should especially benefit the marginalized....

I do too but I have a  problem with churches getting involved in political elections and keeping their tax-free status.  This check is has inoffensive to none but what if the Scientologists decided to go Trump because would preserve their tax status through presidential powers.
