The are betting Against ME~

My Dh let the cat slip outta the bag today!

His workplace has a RUNNING bet that I will not finish w/ my BSN degree simply because we are in the process of adopting a baby girl from Russia! Truely, they have a BOARD w/ my odds on it!

He (smartly) said he is not in on this one. I told him (quite verbally) to bet his money baby, its not going to stop me. I also said, I wanted a piece of this pie!

I Gently (LOL) reminded him I was on the flippin waiting list, had signed the paperwork and sent it back...and was going back to school in September. If my intentions were to QUIT, why would I go back to finish my AS and AA degrees? I also (gently) reminded him that I had a year to do nothing...and IF I got off the list I would go back. It wasnt MY DECISION to be on this list...its just how it is!

He ROFLOL... said his money was on me :kiss

once he saw how ENFLAMED I was... he knew I was serious. I was ready to go make a few heads roll up at his work...

Big Jerks.. My Dh was worried when I went back to school three years ago that I would leave him (due to that happening to others he works with, and this is what they alllll told him on a daily basis)...then he wanted me to make SURE I was going to finish...he didnt want me going, then deciding to quit school...WHICH I HAVENT! :D

My Desire is still there, I still WANT to become an RN...

We're just adopting too! Sheeesh.

Thanks for letting me vent... Anyone else out there have others do crap like this?

Sorry to hear that they have a pool on you. But just think of the money you'll get graduation day!!! Best wished on your adoption!

Dear Connie,

It seems cruel to me that people will make fun and games with no regards to persons feelings. I believe one can accomplish anything that they are determined to do, through thick and thin... just stay with your decision and do not quit. Discouragement comes along all the time with the ups and downs of disappointment life in genearl seems to dish out. The trick is managing a balnce of the good withthe bad, and becoming stronger and smarter than the person who trys to discourage and prevent you from achieving your goals. I personally would stop associating with individuals who were non supportive of my choices, and would find more positive and encouraging people to be around who will help keep me motivated by the presence of good friendship and good supportive friends. The people you describe sound unhealthy to be around.. Just my 2 cents worth...

No, haven't had that happen. That is sad that people would bet against you.

I am interested in your adoption though. We have been looking into it too and have become very discouraged. I can't get over the fact that when you decide on a child, you may have to wait up to a year to get him/her. To me, that is like me giving my toddler to an orphanage for a year and then getting him back. Once I choose a child, he is MY child dang it. :)

How has the process gone for you?

Hee. Hubbys... funny creatures, aren't they? ;)

Yeh, mine didn't have a whole lot of faith in me in the beginning, either... actually, not really until I was over half, or nearly 3/4 way through did he start believing I was going to finish what I had started!

And like yours, he too voiced concerns fearing that I would leave him shortly after completing my degree and obtaining my RN...

Now I enjoy the luxury of playing that both ways... I get to remind him dailey that "see? just isn't so !" as WELL as reminding him, that "I've not had my degree LONG, y'know... still could happen !" heh heh heh.......

Keep us posted on the progress of the adoption ! So VERY excited for you ! ((( )))

oh ya, almost forgot... Good luck on the adoption, I hear it takes a very long time, and is not an easy process, another goal to achieve... :) Good luck in both areas of your life!!

Monica: These individuals who think they are so clever Work w/ my Dh. We Dont socialize w/ them at all. BUT... he does have to work w/ them for 8+ hours a day!

:D

monica, jnette and steph: Thanks for the encouragement on the adoption. We are adopting from Russia and it should take between 8-10 months.

Steph: I'll Pm you details so everyone doesnt get bord about an adoption.

Wow, didn't realize I wasn't the only one to have a worried hubby.

Oh and about the bets that is just silly. I would use that for extra motivation though. I am like that - got to prove them all wrong. Tell your hubby to get in on the action you could use the extra money to pay for school expenses or your graduation party!
