The are betting Against ME~

My Dh let the cat slip outta the bag today!

His workplace has a RUNNING bet that I will not finish w/ my BSN degree simply because we are in the process of adopting a baby girl from Russia! Truely, they have a BOARD w/ my odds on it!

He (smartly) said he is not in on this one. I told him (quite verbally) to bet his money baby, its not going to stop me. I also said, I wanted a piece of this pie!

I Gently (LOL) reminded him I was on the flippin waiting list, had signed the paperwork and sent it back...and was going back to school in September. If my intentions were to QUIT, why would I go back to finish my AS and AA degrees? I also (gently) reminded him that I had a year to do nothing...and IF I got off the list I would go back. It wasnt MY DECISION to be on this list...its just how it is!

He ROFLOL... said his money was on me :kiss

once he saw how ENFLAMED I was... he knew I was serious. I was ready to go make a few heads roll up at his work...

Big Jerks.. My Dh was worried when I went back to school three years ago that I would leave him (due to that happening to others he works with, and this is what they alllll told him on a daily basis)...then he wanted me to make SURE I was going to finish...he didnt want me going, then deciding to quit school...WHICH I HAVENT! :D

My Desire is still there, I still WANT to become an RN...

We're just adopting too! Sheeesh.

Thanks for letting me vent... Anyone else out there have others do crap like this?

Yep...some men can be twits. Bet on yourself and prove them wrong.

My husbands co-workers had a dead pool going (which famous person would die first). My husband lost his $5 (Keith Richards) when Strom Thurman passed away. They currently have a pool going on how long their department head will last (is #10 in 3 years). They also run pools for babys due dates, they are pretty decent with those, half the winnings go to the baby.

My dh said they have other pools going on right now too...

When such-n-such is getting divorced ( last marriage lasted 2 months) ect...

I just hate it when its me and about something I am serious about. I saw Dh up at his work today and asked him what the odds are on me. He said his $$ was on me, he said " When you get mad, you get determined". Your darn tootin I am!

Thing is... will they finish the pool when I have our daughter home and am back in school? Ir when I actually finish...

WHEN I FINISH, I would love to walk in there and nonchalantly say.... "Hummm didnt I hear several years ago there was a pool going on about me finishing...." While saying this Im holding my daughters hand!

My Dh did say (w/ a grin on his face ) as I was leaving....

"Although... once you get that baby in your arms...."

He was KIDDING... I looked at him and told him... we'll see wont we...

I don't know that I would have been able to be so positive about that betting pool. Do you think it is a "guy" thing? Are they (or some of them) feeling threatened by wives or S/O's increased knowledge?

Wow, he does work with a kinds malicious bunch doesn't he, but I guess I can see the *humor* if the persons last marriage made it 2 months, I'd bet the person being bet on doesn't find it very funny. Then again the "dead pool" at my dh's work wasn't very nice either, but at least they were betting on the death of very old public figures and not a co-worker.

Got to love those men..:roll

Wow, sounds like your DH works with a bunch of jerks!

My husband has friends like this, they're constantly telling him things like, "you know it's going to take your wife 10 years to finish school, etc."

He doesn't get any pity from me over it. If he'd get a decent job making more than $10K a year so I could quit MY job and go to school full-time, maybe I could get through a little bit quicker! URGH!

Sorry, pet peeve. Vent over. LOL

yes you do.. and it goes both ways. My wife wasnt always the most supportive person.

Family support is so very important in nursing school. However, it "can" be done with out it.... Although my friends have disappeard, my dh supports me. And, this BB helps me a great deal.

Off the subject: I'm interested to see what happens on the BB after everyone gets back to school, 2 things are going to happen....

Sounds like a bore... is that like a speech class?

I'm taking 13 hours, but still have my 40+ hour a week job, so I'm stuck in front of this computer for that long a week regardless. Might as well spend it browsing the web and not doing actual work. LOL!

13 hours.. damn. I dont know how you do it..

Yeah its a speech class about how to communicate successfully with ppl from other cultures. Its part of the nursing curriculum.

I wasnt able to get into Micro or A&P even though I begged. Hopefully I can take A&P in the spring and pick up micro over the summer??? :o

LOL!

Sheer determination. I want it so bad I can taste it... and that keeps me going. I'm actually pretty damn proud of myself. :)

I'm sure it'll work out. Did you look into taking your sciences anywhere else that would transfer, or would that mess things up? I know the community colleges here even offer A&P completely online - pretty convenient. Maybe Micro too, not sure.
