i didn't see st jude's children's hospital on the list... i thought for sure that would be listed....

One of the things taken into the equation is death rate. They, I would think, have a decently high one.

I was born at Alexian Brothers in IL, does that count?

It is listed under the best for cancer. But not on the general pediatric list.

Specializes in Adult Acute Care Medicine.

I work at the University of Michigan. Love it! :nuke:

I work in UCLA and we just moved to a brand new building which is pretty awesome. Congrats to everyone!

Specializes in ICU, CCU, Trauma, neuro, Geriatrics.

I worked at UPMC in Pittsburgh for 2 years.

My local community hospital didn't make the Best Hospital list but it has made Fortune 500's Best Places to Work list for quite a few years in a row now. Not too shabby for a hospital that is located in the smallest town in one of the smallest states in the USA It ranked 49 of the top 100 companies for 2008! Get this "it received 6,691 applications for 180 open positions in 2007" :yeah:

It made #21 in 2007

and made #4 in 2006

My hospital isn't on the list, but I can't imagine working anywhere else. One of the 'award winning hospitals' can't do pediatric surgery, they send us their neonates that need surgery, usually past the point where surgery is helpful. They hold onto these babies until the last minute, we get them, and many end up dying before they can go to surgery, or they get to surgery and are too far gone to do anything. I don't care about my hospital winning awards, I know that everything we do is for the patients, and we do our best and that is enough for me. I just want to say though, that award winning hospitals aren't always everything they seem to be.

Thanks CT Pixie for posting Fortunes which matters alot for staff like us. I'm checking it out myself. There's pros and cons working for those top 100 Hospitals as big as they are. I used to work for community hospitals which has more of a family feeling among staff.

Specializes in Pediatrics (Burn ICU, CVICU).

I work for Arkansas Children's, who is on the list...great place to be as a patient and employee!

Specializes in Geriatrics, Transplant, Education.
