That DREAMY First Check!

Hello,

I am a second year nursing student. When it seems like I can't see the light at the end of the graduating tunnel, I dream about what I am gonna do with my first RN check. There are so many things I wanna do. What did some of you do with that Dreamy First Check? Sometimes, I wanna say that I am just gonna shop til' I drop, sign up for a years worth of massages to get rid of the school stress. Put the down on a nice new car. But did you all blow your check or just went straight to bills. I think I'm gonna frame mines!

It was 1986. I was making $8.58/hr. I bought a new TV and a grill. Didn't have any money left to cook anything on the grill-but I was 20 years old, didn't care!!:lol2:

I want to just shop til I drop :) I'm just now starting nursing school... so I have a two year long tunnel and the lights too far away to see right now. But I'm going to just go shopping, and then whats left over pay off a bunch of credit cards. Hopefully Ill get a chunk of a sign on bonus to pay off most student loans.

I can't wait for that first check! I'll probably just spend it on bills though since nursing school is putting me deep in debt. Only 4 months to go!!!

I just got my 1st RN paycheck 1 week ago. It was for $1,400 take home, not gross.

*I payed about 500$ in bills

*prepayed $340 for a cabin in the mountains (my boyfriend and i are going next weekend)

*bought lotions and sprays at bath and body works $50

*gave my sister $100

*$50 in gas for my truck (it hasn't been more than a quarter full for the last 2 years)

*bought random junk that I can't remember....

And I have $55.01 in my savings....woo hoo; for the last 4 years I only had $5.01

It was nice, but I think I'll be a little wiser with it next pay and put more in my savings.

I also had so many many many plans for my first check....I think I started planning it when i still had a year left of school.

I love to buy purses too. I have one year left also and I think I'm going to buy my friends and family a nice dinner and maybe a pair of shoes.

Not just the first check, but the first several, I moved and settled myself into a new apartment. I splurged and spent $1000.00 on a nice (still working but outdated) stereo system. Eventually my bills and my lifestyle caught up with my paychecks and I'm broke again. LOL

Friday I'll get my first full 2 week paycheck and I'm calling nutrasystem

GOT TO GET OFF THE WEIGHT I GAINED IN SCHOOL!!!

Taking kids to Dixie stampede and school shopping (and remind my husband how I need a new car for my new job)

I bought $150 worth of groceries (and in 1983 that was a LOT of groceries). I can't tell you how many Ramen noodles that we had eaten while I was in school.
