Thank yous for "I failed for the 5th time"

Published

I truely just wanted to thank everyone for all of your supportive responses regarding my forum "failed the NCLEX-RN for the fifth time" I am going to reshedule the exam today and not let myself take a single break along the way and pass this exam the next time and NOT let my anxiety get the best of me! I was really hurt by reading a couple people's comments about "Come on it's not that hard" and "How are you going to react in patient emergency situtations if you can't pass a simple exam" but what truely was like a knife in the heart was " Would you fly with a piolet who failed their exam 5 times" and "Give up, Nursing is not your future" It's hurtful mainly bc I can't picture a true genuine Nurse saying such judgemental things.. I would never want to be their patient in fear that they would judge me. However all of you had such wonderful and supportive things to say and it truely helps me a great deal jus to know theres other's in my shoes or once was or others that just understand and have such kind and heartfelt words. You are all right, I am not going to give up! I am going to pass and prove to those that Nursing IS my future and that I am going to be a wonderful Nurse!!! Thank you all so much! Hopefully the next forum I write will be that I passed :)

best of luck to ya hon, you can do it. you just need a little faith in yourself. Like tinkerbell says..all you need is trust, faith and a little bit of Pixie Dust.

you can do it.

I'm glad you're not giving up.:yeah:

Did you get Suzanne's Plan yet? She's put a lot of good work into it and has close to a 100% pass rate.

It's certainly worth a shot!

best of luck!!!

You know reading this...kinda rally upset me, because i had similarities to your story.

I too was a repeat test taker finally passing on my 3rd try, i joined this site looking for inspiration and support, i found alot BUT i also found the "bad apples" in here, true, i kinda "wigged" out because i beleived and STILL do that the NCLEX does NOT do whats its supposed to do and that is is a really dumb, dumb test, so SOME people in here called me childish, that i "needed therapy" etc.

I am absolutely sick of people putting down re-peat test takers. Fortuynately for me, my co-workers were VERY supportive, my freind on the other hand who worked in ER who finally passed on her 3rd time, got ridiculed. people called her a "liabilty, " because she had failed the NCLEX a few time. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous !!

I spent month figuring out the NCLEX and still to this day help people pass by giving them all the help/support i can.

theres a few things i want to pass to you.

#1. DO NOT be hard on yourself, its not you its the test. period.

#2 MANY, great nurses fail numerous times

#3 EVERYONE passes NCLEX, if they do not give up !, so please keep at it.

#4 The NCLEX DOES NOT indicate what kind of nurse you are OR will be.

The statement(s)/opinions i have on the NCLEX that i tell EVERYONE and no one (including in here can answer) is this.

Premise-The NClex is designed to prove "competence" in nursing

premise-If you pass the NCLEX, you are considered "competent"

Fact-"competence" is gained with experince

My thought-IF, you get 100 nurses from any field, ANY hospital, ANY experience...and gave them ALL the "current" NCLEX exam TODAY, LOGIC dictates that ALL 100 should pass, because they are considered, by the BRN to be competent ??!! right ??

I bet you my left kidney and right arm that NOT all 100 will pass. garanteed. !! why is that ? have they "lost" competence ??, but you GAIN competence in the field ! right ?

point #2-the NCLEX does NOT reflect the "real world", so WHY then test you and hold you accontable for a test for a worl you will NEVER work in ?? (i.e. only 1 pt, all the time in the world, etc)

I had a few nurses give me some negative comments about me failing the NCLEX twice, and i said. "well..you know what, looky here..my badge.......says the same thing YOUR badge says...go figure ??!"

in the END, its not how you got your liscense, its really what you do with it, and keeping it.

You keep your head up !, dont listen to all those negative people, ! you take that test as many time as you need to. and beleive me onece you pass, the moment you see your name on the BRN website...the pain, sorrow and stress--it truley does go away, instantly...:)

Let me know if i can do anything to help you.

Sorry about co-workers and people who pass and are not nice.

Many of my co-workers tells me if they should take the Nclex today, they would not pass the exam. One of them have 30 yrs experience as an Rn. She believes it would be impossible for her to pass it now even with her experience. Her exam was catagorized/system/Medsurge, Peds, Psyc, ect., not random questioning like today. I think the exam is made difficult today because of the many errors that are being made in real life situations, today. I have fail 3 Xs but with what I know from studying, my co-worker says she don't know half of what I know. With 30 yrs of experience in the ER, Floor, and as a DON, she still don't know her lab values and what it's telling her. So test taker repeaters tap yourself on your back for what you know. Ex: Last night at work a person came in c/o gout sx, the MD ask the ER nurse (RN-5yrs exp) to pull up diet info for the pt., she ask my charge nurse (RN-20 yrs. exp) for help, she looks at me and I smiled and said, "no purine", I'm so proud. Something as simple as that makes me feel smarter even if I fail nclex-rn 3xs. I'm not putting my co-workers down and they don't put me down. It's working as a team that counts. We share our knowledge and thats what allnurses is about.

Be proud.:)

:yeahthat:

Best of luck your are a strong person and will make the nursing field proud

While I was a student, I was one of those that was a little snarky about someone having to take their boards more than once. And then came my turn...

Taking the NCLEX was probably one of the most difficult, stressful things I've ever done in my life. I left that room just knowing that I didn't pass.

I will never again fault anyone for having to take their boards more than once.

Keep on keepin' on!
