Failed again x3
Jarlesha the First thing you have to do is NOT to hard on yourself. dont give up. you WILL pass this test. I am also a re-peat test taker and you can read my many pages of anti-nclex rants posted here. the nclex is simply a poorly constructed, ireelevant test that measures nothing about you as a person or nurse. trust me, i know its hard now, but on that day when you pass, all that pain and sorrow goes away instantly when you see your name on that website. i wish the best for you. 3rd time nclex-test taker
Letjackson !!!! :) You hang i there !, come on now, i know i have been M.I.A for awhile (work and family and life...) but i come in here when i can and this was the first post i saw and had to respond. im glad you are still in there, you can never give up ! dont let "them" win, never never. i just helped my freind pass, on her SIXTH time. i told her that when she passed, all that pain, sorrow and frustration ALL goes away instantly, she didnt beleive me when i told her, but when she passed she calle dme and told me that what i said was right, and you will too. Congrats to the people that pass the first time. But i beleive, that us, the multi test takers ,our liscense is "that much more special" becasue we had to work through such difficlut times. You keep your head up !, always remeber when you pass your work id says Registered nurse NOT Registered nurse (3rd time nclex taker, or 5th or.. or Registered nurse (23 years expereince) it just says registered nurse. PERIOD. you let me know if you need anything JON

Thank yous for "I failed for the 5th time"
You know reading this...kinda rally upset me, because i had similarities to your story. I too was a repeat test taker finally passing on my 3rd try, i joined this site looking for inspiration and support, i found alot BUT i also found the "bad apples" in here, true, i kinda "wigged" out because i beleived and STILL do that the NCLEX does NOT do whats its supposed to do and that is is a really dumb, dumb test, so SOME people in here called me childish, that i "needed therapy" etc. I am absolutely sick of people putting down re-peat test takers. Fortuynately for me, my co-workers were VERY supportive, my freind on the other hand who worked in ER who finally passed on her 3rd time, got ridiculed. people called her a "liabilty, " because she had failed the NCLEX a few time. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous !! I spent month figuring out the NCLEX and still to this day help people pass by giving them all the help/support i can. theres a few things i want to pass to you. #1. DO NOT be hard on yourself, its not you its the test. period. #2 MANY, great nurses fail numerous times #3 EVERYONE passes NCLEX, if they do not give up !, so please keep at it. #4 The NCLEX DOES NOT indicate what kind of nurse you are OR will be. The statement(s)/opinions i have on the NCLEX that i tell EVERYONE and no one (including in here can answer) is this. Premise-The NClex is designed to prove "competence" in nursing premise-If you pass the NCLEX, you are considered "competent" Fact-"competence" is gained with experince My thought-IF, you get 100 nurses from any field, ANY hospital, ANY experience...and gave them ALL the "current" NCLEX exam TODAY, LOGIC dictates that ALL 100 should pass, because they are considered, by the BRN to be competent ??!! right ?? I bet you my left kidney and right arm that NOT all 100 will pass. garanteed. !! why is that ? have they "lost" competence ??, but you GAIN competence in the field ! right ? point #2-the NCLEX does NOT reflect the "real world", so WHY then test you and hold you accontable for a test for a worl you will NEVER work in ?? (i.e. only 1 pt, all the time in the world, etc) I had a few nurses give me some negative comments about me failing the NCLEX twice, and i said. "well..you know what, looky here..my badge.......says the same thing YOUR badge says...go figure ??!" in the END, its not how you got your liscense, its really what you do with it, and keeping it. You keep your head up !, dont listen to all those negative people, ! you take that test as many time as you need to. and beleive me onece you pass, the moment you see your name on the BRN website...the pain, sorrow and stress--it truley does go away, instantly...:) Let me know if i can do anything to help you. JON-R.N.

September 2008 support group!
Just wanted to come by and say BEST of luck to all of you taking the test !, you know your stuff. Just focus on the test itsef. having tested 3 times myself (finally passing on the third time), i can give you what helped me. Take your breaks when you need them, you are going to be anxious, thats normal but when you begin to lose 'focus', you know what i mean--take a break, go for a short walk outside get some air , mabye a drink of water..a few minutes will help. try to block out all dristractions around you while testing, dont be concerned with the people takinig test around you, if they get up before you, just realize that not all people there are taking the RN test, use as much 'scratch' paper as you need to work out the problems.. ..again, good luck to all you test takers. you WILL pass this test JON

Discouraged and crying ......
First, do not be hard on yourself, its the dumb test NOT you. I was very hard on myself when i failed so i know what you are going through. the second time i was terrified because it ahd beaten once already, finally on the third time i passed Second, take some time off, the amount of time is dicated by you, no one can say a week or a month..'you' will 'know' when you are ready. Third, remember that this test in no way dictates what kind of nurse you are OR will be. and lastly, have hope, i know now its hard (read my earlier post where i was going bonkers..) you WILL pass this test !! you will find ALOT of support in here from people that have and are going through the same thing as you. you are just ONE test (X, amount of questions) away from being an RN. best of luck to you ! JON

Took NCLEX-RN today ughhhhhh
I havnt been around in awhile but i like to check in from time to time and see posts like this, having taken the test 3 times (passing on my third attempt) i have studfied the NCLEX exam itself and have formulated my own opions. The test bank of NCLEX is 3000 questions, i have personally seen about 600 questions of that 3000. here are some things i want to pass to you: 1. I have (personally) see MORE people pass at 265 than fail 2. S.A.T.A questions DO (again my opinion) have a correlation to passing, I have helped about 20 people pass the NCLEX and when they give me their "NCLEX questions breakdown"--i have never been wrong S.A.T.A OR priority questions represent the upper level questions and to pass, (my opinion) you need to have at least 10% of your exam of those questions. example: MY 1st time-215 quesions-8 S.A.T.A/priority questions=failed second time-122 questions-9 S.A.T.A/ priority questions=failed third time-251 questions-over 30 S.A.T.A/priority questions AND i RAN OUT OF TIME=passed all my friends that gave me their stat, that had 10% of their test S.A.T.A/ priority questions all have passed anf the 2 that didnt-did not. So, in the end when you say you got "tons of SATA questions"..thats always a good sign, so keep up your spirits !! and i truley wish the best for you !!! :) JON

Failed for third time...
I know its hard now, But keep your head up !! Just realize the NCLEX is really a dumb test, that must be passed to "finalize" the journey. The NCLEX is in NO way indicative of what kind o nurse that you are OR WILL BE. Do not be hard on yourself, take some time to "re-group" and take that test again, you WILL pass. trust me that when you do, all that pain , sorrow and frustration ALL goes away the moment you see your name on that website. !! :) Jon R.N. (3rd time NCLEX taker and Passer)

Third time test taker (yeah I know....)
As a third time test taker myself (finally passing on the third time), I wish you the very best of luck... as far as S.A.T.A questions go, I believe there is a correlation to the number you get anf the pass rate, however..priority also counts as an "eqaul" level questions so.... if you said "i only had a few SATA queations and barely any priority" , yeah, that doesnt look good, BUT you had lots of priority so i say you did well. SATA and/or Priority are on the "same level" question of difficulty. 3rd time was my good luck charm, so im passing it to you ! :) JON

May Family Update ?!
..Just wanted to post a thread to see how the MAY family NCLEX takers are doing ??! There are just so many threads, and i have so many "family" members that it is impossible fo rme to "catch" up :) just wanted to see if anyone else passed recently or just needs a boost of encouragement !! --I just heard from a fellow student that the BRN went to my school and are re-vamping the course. -the NEW director that was hired mid way in between my RN program. has "stepped" down from her position, having only served 1 year in that postion. -what i heard is that my class only had a 61% overall (first time) pass rate. Currently there are only 4 of 65 students of my class yet to pass. soo it will be 100% soon enought. -I guess the BRn wanted to look at the questions we had in school and make tham more like NCLEX--which is GREAT !!! -all schools have those "dumb" "huh" kinda questons, but ours seem to have more. -I love my school my program and especailly MOST of the teachers are absoultely wonderful, -I hope they get things situated over there, and help those students. JON (night shift vampire RN) :)

new user...didn't pass nclex
LuvinLIFE As a re-peat test taker myself finally passing, the secret is DONT be hard on yourself-its not you its the dumb test, and second is DONT give up !!--if you can do those (2) things..you WILL pass. As far as 'plans", well--i dont prescribe to any "plan"--i reccomend Kaplan for questions and saunders for content. other than that, I believe that everyone , basically knows within themselves the nursing areas in which they are weak in and strong in. so focus more on you 'weak" areas...Like PhARM--EVERYONES weak point. and less on you strong points. I wish you the best of luck !!, let us know how it goes. JON

Failed Nclex
Yes, Dont give up ! I know its hard now, you WILL pass this test,...the previous posts mention saunders 4th and Kaplan for strategies and i totally agree ! Take some time to "re-group" and hit them books again and hit the NCLEX even harder.. JON
