Can't pass NCLEX-RN so took PN and passed???
hey allhrt2rn! I actually did find the questions not as challenging and felt alot more confident leaving that exam than I did with any of the RN exams I took but then again I think I wasn't as scared to take the PN and felt alot more relaxed so I am not sure if that played a huge role or not. It actually has encouraged me to sign up for the RN again though and give it my all this last time but if it doesn't work out again then atleast I know that I have the LPN under my belt so I'm hoping that will help me to stay calm during the exam as well. I am sure you did well though! I will keep my fingers crossed for you but no matter what don't give up bc we graduated w/ the education and knowledge of Rn's and we will get thru it at some point! I have faith still even though I've failed the RN a numerous amount of times. I've been taking care of my Mother for the past few years, she has been struggling w/ stage four colon cancer and I feel like maybe my brain has not been too focused on the RN exam and I was begining to question nursing overall until my bf's Grandpa endured a major Heart Attack but I was there to take all the right protocols and get him help immediately and he came through and is off to a full recovery, however spending days and nights in the Hospital made me realize how badly I wanted this! Therefore I scheduled the PN exam the next day and took it and passed so maybe this is just what I needed to get my confidence back to take the RN again? I have been just as confused as you and I know how much of an emmotional rollarcoaster ride this has been but maybe it's just making us the stronger ones :) Hang in there!

Can't pass NCLEX-RN so took PN and passed???
I graduated about a year ago from an ADN program however I've taken the NCLEX-RN 4 times and have not been able to pass. I decided to try taking the PN exam after confirming it w/ my school and took it last week and passed! I feel like it's given me more motivation to go ahead and schedule the RN again! Does anyone think I could possibly pass the RN exam or should I just work as an LPN? I live in WI and there seems like there are not alot of LPN jobs anymore

Failed Nclex-rn 4 Times So Took Pn Exam And Passed?!
I was wondering if anyone had any opinions or suggesstions for me. I graduated from an ADN program a little over a year ago and have taken the NCLEX-RN 4 times and have been unsuccessful everytime. It has been a really long hall for me bc I currently live at home and take care of my Mother (She has been struggling w/ stage four colon cancer for 3 years now) and trying to work and study as well. I really really needed a job and need to get back out in the Medical field before I lose this dream that I've been trying so hard to fullfill so I scheduled the PN exam. I registered and the Department of Licensing sent me my Authorization to test so I scheduled the exam and passed. I was so happy! I found out on Thanksgiving and my family and I all celebrated. Then came Friday and I recieve a letter in the mail stating that I was ineligible to take the PN examination and need to reapply for the correct examination? I can't talk w/ anyone until Monday to figure this out and I've already got 2 job interviews lined up for an LPN. Please help! Let me know your opinons? I hear that the PN and RN exams are not all that different and I was extremely calm going into the PN exam bc there wasn't as much pressure I don't think. Should I get this all figured out and work as an LPN or just try one last time for the RN considering I have the degree for it This has been such a huge emmotional rollarcoaster ride for me and I am not sure how much longer I can go on..

Study Materials for NCLEX-RN anyone?
Hi everyone! I have been unsuccessful in passing the NCLEX-RN exam however I am not giving up and giving it my everything, studying 4-5 hours a day and was wondering if anyone had any advice on study materials for me? Like what CD/Books/Audios really worked best for you? I've been using Kaplan and Saunders and find the Saunders better suits my learning needs. Any advice or tips you may have would extremely help me at this point. I want to really make sure I do it right this time and prioritize my life around studying.. someone recommended that the ATI books were really helpful! What do you think?! Thank you all so much for you help and consideration! These forums help me tremendously :)

Thank yous for "I failed for the 5th time"
I truely just wanted to thank everyone for all of your supportive responses regarding my forum "failed the NCLEX-RN for the fifth time" I am going to reshedule the exam today and not let myself take a single break along the way and pass this exam the next time and NOT let my anxiety get the best of me! I was really hurt by reading a couple people's comments about "Come on it's not that hard" and "How are you going to react in patient emergency situtations if you can't pass a simple exam" but what truely was like a knife in the heart was " Would you fly with a piolet who failed their exam 5 times" and "Give up, Nursing is not your future" It's hurtful mainly bc I can't picture a true genuine Nurse saying such judgemental things.. I would never want to be their patient in fear that they would judge me. However all of you had such wonderful and supportive things to say and it truely helps me a great deal jus to know theres other's in my shoes or once was or others that just understand and have such kind and heartfelt words. You are all right, I am not going to give up! I am going to pass and prove to those that Nursing IS my future and that I am going to be a wonderful Nurse!!! Thank you all so much! Hopefully the next forum I write will be that I passed :)

Failed the NCLEX-RN for the 5th time!
Thank you everyone for your responces... I am actually taking some time off and going to get back into the game of things and take it again... I have actually suffered from severe testing anxiety throughout my life and done extremely well in emergency patient situtations so I don't think that the two are a very good comparison. Also considering I am 25 years old and live at home with my Mother, and have taken care of her for 3 years now since she was diagnosed with Stage four colon cancer and the day before my exam I had to put my Dog down, and during the exam my door began to bleed and my Dr says it's all anxiety related so I think until you've experienced it yourself, you cannot judge... every good nurse I know or my Mother says shes ever had is a non-judemental one. I went to school with a girl who used to "apply oxygen to patient's stomas" and when someone once told her to milk the tubing she ran to the cafeteria and grabbed two gallons of milk and well she passed her boards the first time. She was recently fired for killing a patient due to a med error, so by her not having test anxiety and thinking "the nclex-rn isn't that hard" really didn't have anything to do with how she reacted in emergency situtations! I know a million Nurses out there who pass this exam and don't know a whole lot about patient safety.. so yes I am certain I have severe test anxiety. Kaplan told me a go test a few times now bc I was doing so well with their review course and yet I got to the exam center and my heart sped up and I could not think...

Failed the NCLEX-RN for the 5th time!
I just found out yesterday that I failed for the 5th time and here's whats even worse, I failed at 75 questions! Which means I am only getting worse each time I take it! I was so prepared and worked so hard and now all I want to do is crawl in a hole and never leave I was seeing a personal tutor whose past students all passed except me. I just sit down and freak out and can't concentrate! I am never going to full fill this dream that I thought was so close! I signed up for the PN exam today bc I feel as if I am never going pass the RN exam even after graduating from the nursing program here in WI.. I found out too that they raised the passing standard here to 95%! How can anyone have a chance to pass?! All my friends that passed after graduation only needed a 78-85% passing average. Does anyone think that I even have a chance to pass the PN exam?! Or any advice for me?! Please help! All I want more than anything in this world is to be a nurse.

Nclex-rn Priority questions how did you go by answering them?
sometimes I feel like nclex gives you a cardio problem, and resp and decreasing LOC or bleeding all in one priority question! So do you immediately go with Respiratory problems due to "ABC" ??? I really get stuck on these!

Priority Questions- Nclex-rn
hi everyone! I am going to be re-taking my nclex-rn exam next week and wondering of anyone had any advice for me regarding the "who do you see first" priority type questions. I always think ABC but I've heard now that the "ABC" method does not essentially work? I tend to struggle with this even in the clinical world bc every patient always seems critical to me Please Help!

What happened to all my strenght to pass the exam?
Hi everyone, I recently just failed my NCLEX-RN for the fourth time and have just got back into studying again. I got my results and was below in one area but near or above in all the rest and felt confident this past time, however I have not been able to study. I want to take it again as soon as possible but everytime I sit down to read a book or take a quiz no matter where I am, I get that lump in my throat where I just want to cry. My Mom has been battling stage four cancer for a few years now and I've been home taking care of her sugery after surgery so things have been hard but my passion in life is to be a wonderful Nurse that I know I can be and will be but can someone tell me how they found the strength to go on again????

I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(
Thank you all for your comments. I think the worst part is just waiting for your results, not knowing whether to study or apply for an Rn position... I had a question about something else as well. I had a couple questions on battery and was wondering is it considered battery if a nurse puts oxygen on a COPD client while he is sleeping?

I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(
Thank you, I believe you all that the last question thing is just a myth.. I am having major doubts about the exam again and am just afraid to go through this all over again.. I just want so badly to be a nurse and bc I struggle with such terrible test anxiety my whole life, I don't know if I will ever get there. I wasn't confident on alot of the diabetes questions and am pretty sure I didn't pass again.. thank you all for your support :)
